Seun Kuti, a Conspiracy Theorist, is a Fake Prophet of Africa’s Progress -By Nneka Okumazie

Any musician who is serious about change can find a local government where the authorities there would be willing to engage. The musician can then explore how to implement fresh ideas, and see how it may be useful in a few areas. This may even be possible without having to spend a lot of time there.

This is no longer the 50s, where assumptions about what is holding Africa back can become definite motivations for action, with aims at change. Many of what seemed like answers at the time were tried in different forms, but Africa has yet to develop. Meanwhile in the same period, some countries that were backward took off.

At present, there is nothing stopping a number of countries in Africa from industrialization. Everything that can make it possible is within the reach of some, but what they need to get it together is absent.

Africa has a number of modest politicians. There are some who also try to have some form of integrity. Even though those are better than the opposite, that is not what Africa is looking for.

There are forever activists in Africa, clamoring against every government. There are those deluded and trying to delude others into desiring revolution in Africa. Most activists in Africa never have any answers. They offer tropes and make it seem easy, but what appears to be the case is that being the center of attention is appealing to them.

The case of Seun Kuti, a music activist, who has forgotten that music activism or whatever is similar to that, is already discredited.  It is possible to use government ridicule as entertainment, but to pass that as an effort for change is baseless.

Yet, everything and everyone else is a problem and the only thing that Africa needs is what this person who cannot find answers to the problem of young people screaming for passengers to buses, or people hawking under the sun or anything simple enough, is saying.

At the core, Seun Kuti has no interest in Africa’s development. He’s worse than fake and false religious prophets with his deceptive methods. He’s always provocative, seeking a fight, where he would be right and be the victim. He’s deeply into conspiracy theories, sunk in drivel, that it is conceivable that no one in this world checks on him or cares for how he’s doing as he saunters away from reality.

Anything he says has no connection to how Africa can develop. The question then is why. It maybe hate, envy, emptiness, vindictiveness, an absence of meaning in life, confusion about his own reason for existence, or an assignment of destruction, where for himself it is certain, but he’s seeking whom or what to take along.

It is important to classify whatever he says as not from someone to be listened to, but as someone to feel sorry for, as the signs are there, but he can’t see it and others who do may not tell him or he may have driven everyone away with only people around who would nod with him in agreement of the pity that he has become.

All his responses must show that only he is enlightened, read, observant and knows best. This person that all the progress that the world has ever made, even within his profession, he has never made any contribution, outstanding, original or additional, zilch.

So who is he trying to convince, when it is clear that he actually has nothing new or of value or considerable to progress of Africa, to offer?

Government is always bad. Only government can bring change is the monotonous rant, he offers all his lifetime. A person who wants to make other think he’s serious about Africa’s progress that is irritatingly petty, comfortable with ad hominem attacks and displays rascality, matching and exceeding hooligans.

If anyone happens to learn from him, the person gets worse, picking up negative behaviors, like casting spells in public, using foul language and becomes a role model of embarrassment.

What is progress? Progress is from ideas or efforts where ideas are allowed to fester, in every area. Those who progress will always be ahead of others. That, lacking, should be simple enough to answer for why Africa continues to struggle. People who want to make progress use their observations to identify answers. SeunKuti will only observe problems. Something that someone without any literacy would do, begging the question if his literacy andfictitious talent is of any use beyond filth.

If today, all religions in Africa were only African religions, like Seun Kuti might be hoping or all old systems and leaders somehow went away, if Africa does not follow the effort ideas to progress, nothing would change. So offering nonsense as answers, in a world where the evidence for how progress is made is clear, shows that something is not quite right.

Cuba of Castro is his model. He can have that in his home. Cuba may still be underdeveloped if his revolution of apocalypse never happened, but Castro’s grip of decades on the nation was a curse. That is what this person wants, more pain for Africa, and worse.

Africa has hope. But there will never be a time when the answers to Africa’s problem will be found in Seun Kuti, the skirmish indigent conspiratorial fringe.
