The Arrogance Of Religion Nauseates Me -By Abubakar Abdullahi

As I grow older, I have learned not to pay them any mind. Many of them are now seeing the futility in their pursuit as their leaders are beginning to apologize for those erroneous doctrines that were disguised as “Rhema”, but purely a by-product of their experiences and temperaments. They can now see the errors but ego and shame wouldn’t let them retreat.

Many years ago when the dreadlocks were shorter, some big brother of mine saw me at a bus stop in Abuja. He was driving and stopped to give me a lift.

Getting in the car, I felt a thick air of judgment around me. An air so thick you can cut with a knife. The man looked at me and didn’t say anything, but I caught his eyes consistently peering at my locks.

We exchanged numbers and I alighted. Seconds later I got a call from him and he wanted us to find time to “talk deeply”. He was worried I had lost the “ancient landmark”.

Those of you who started in Deeper Life and the other orthodox churches should be able to relate to this term.

I felt hurt.

How could you just judge me by my locks?

I thought the biblical Samson and John The Baptist (the forerunner of the son of the Christian God) had locks too. Lol.

I never picked up his calls afterward.

Over the years, I have had my friends from Christianity and Islam question my spirit, soul, and eternal destination. Some of them have told me they’ll keep praying for me when they see their concerns were nonsensical and they couldn’t keep up with the debates. Some still try to show that type of care that stinks and reeks of biases and prejudices.

These guys have judged me and given the verdict before allowing me make my case.

Sad.

Not that I care about their concerns as I don’t intend to go to a place where I’ll become a zombie and chant the same thing over and over again. But what pains me is the arrogance of religion and religious people.

Mere mortals who think they are special because they believe in the King James’ Version of recycled stories borrowed from the Greeks and Egyptians. They call it the Bible.

Mere mortals who think some illiterate was able to cram instructions from some angel and then regurgitate them into another holy book that has many semblances with another holy book. They call it the Quran.

To all of you now confused by the inconsistencies and errors of Christianity and Islam, please reach me and we can talk.

Back to the subject, the arrogance of most Christian and Muslims nauseates me. Why would you think anyone is lost because they don’t align with your beliefs? Why?

You’ll all be okay someday.
