Democracy & Governance

The Nigerian Federal Government And The Political System Of The Country -By Idris Abdur Rahman Suleiman

If all these are not the case and the concept of DEMOCRACY still remains, I see no point in all this you are doing. It obvious that every man on power will always want more days on the throne, but not by oppressing the masses, fine another way(s) to plan for your 2027 general election but do not deny your people their franchise because it might turn and bounce on you when it is too late.

The Nigerian Federal Government is the apex body in the political organization of Nigeria. It is without doubt that the F.G is now taking another dimension in the politics of this nation. I want to share my view and opinion with my dear compatriots, the love of my father land (NIGERIA) is in me and we shall continue to share our view when necessary. We saw what happened in Kano State and is happening in Plateau State, we perceived it all and try to understand it.

The Kano State Governor under NNPP was elected in the 2023 general election and was announced the winner by the INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION (INEC). Also inaugurated on the 29th day of MAY 2023, he was from that very day, the EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR of Kano State, Then all of a sudden, what happened, happened and the election was taken to court that the Governor is not the choice of Kano people. After all due processes, the tribunal court announced the opposition as thewinner providing some baseless evidence. He took it further to appeal court, it announced same and we are now waiting for the supreme court. We wake up again and same is happening in Plateau State. My fear here is that when the masses are pushed to wall they can develop the courage to fight the government back because you can not just dictate who to lead just because of your political interest, we saw when Kano people turn up massively during the inauguration to support the NNPP candidate and today you just wake up and say Kano people did not vote for the NNPP candidate, are you trying to show Nigerians that the INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION (INEC) has fallen or what?, are you trying to tell the world that you have changed the meaning of the concept of DEMOCRACY or what???

If all these are not the case and the concept of DEMOCRACY still remains, I see no point in all this you are doing. It obvious that every man on power will always want more days on the throne, but not by oppressing the masses, fine another way(s) to plan for your 2027 general election but do not deny your people their franchise because it might turn and bounce on you when it is too late.

It is high time for the Federal Government to focus on what will help the people of Nigeria not what will cause division and disunity among the Nigerian people, the masses of Nigeria need social amenities and access to qualitative health, education, water supply, electricity and much more. The judiciary of Nigeria is not independent any more, and instead of protecting the rights of the citizens, we say it is now protecting the Interest of the political elites.

If this should continue, I think the system should ease it on the people and just change the political system so that the masses will stop going to pulling unit to cast their votes and let the judiciary takes over everything.

In conclusion, I am using this medium to respectfully call upon the Government and any other body(s) concern to give the Nigerian people chance to vote for their choice as far as democracy is concern in NIGERIA.
