Forgotten Dairies

The youth and banditry in Northern Nigeria -By David Taiwo Ashaolu

But it is not just the responsibility of the state,
Every citizen must participate, collaborate, and relate.
We must instill in our youth values of peace,
Teach them empathy and understanding, release
Them from the cycle of violence and hate,
And guide them towards a brighter fate.

In the land of Northern Nigeria, where troubles reside,
There lies a darkness that cannot be denied.
The youths, once full of promise and hope,
Now succumb to the temptations and scope
Of banditry, a path that leads to despair,
Leaving communities in constant fear and prayer.

But amidst this chaos, there is still a glimmer of light,
A solution that can bring an end to this plight.
Education, my love, holds the key,
To unlock the potential of the youth and set them free.
Investment in schools and vocational training,
Can empower them with skills, their future sustaining.

Creating opportunities for employment and growth,
Will steer them away from banditry’s oath.
Engaging community leaders and elders in dialogue,
Can bridge the gap and dissolve the fog
Of misunderstanding and mistrust that breeds,
The violence and crime that our nation bleeds.

Addressing poverty and inequality at its core,
Will bring about change, forevermore.
Providing access to healthcare and basic needs,
Will plant seeds of compassion, eradicating greed.
By investing in infrastructure and development,
We can reshape the narrative, bring enlightenment.

But it is not just the responsibility of the state,
Every citizen must participate, collaborate, and relate.
We must instill in our youth values of peace,
Teach them empathy and understanding, release
Them from the cycle of violence and hate,
And guide them towards a brighter fate.

So let us unite, my love, in this noble cause,
To bring an end to banditry’s claws.
With love, education, and opportunity as our guide,
We can transform Northern Nigeria’s tide.
Together we can build a future that is secure,
Where the youth thrive, and peace endures.
