The Youth Of My Generation -By Mohammed Saleh Gwio

In any reasonable and developed/advanced country, youth are the backbone of development. Youth are important in every field of human endeavour. The youth should realize that they are not to be misused and dumped.
Kash! But in our own case, the exact opposite of what I just said has been the order of the day. Youth of my generation have turned themselves into beggars and praise-singers on the social media platforms. You can see them leaving their business to start posting a politician on a social media, telling lies and rubbish about him. With no conscious of the repercussion, either in the world or on the Judgement Day.

The only goal of every youth in my generation who has educational certificates is to secure a job or become a great politician to make money by all means, without thinking about what they should do for national development and social cohesion. It is not wrong to amass wealth, inasmuch it’s legal.

Youth are always said to be the leaders of tommorow. But the youth of this generation are not reliable. Everywhere you see their clique discussing issues, it must be a criticism against the government or its leadership style of injustice and unfairness. Believe me, if it were them on that position they would definitely be worse than the present ones. They will betray the country and the people they rule. This amazes me bitterly.
We, youth should be fair and honest to ourselves and our country. It is by only so doing we will succeed in all our undertakings. A virile nation is built by a committed and educated citizens.

No country can progress and prosper with the teaming youth having this our kind of mentality. But we’re still not late. It’s better we readjust our faculty of reasoning. Fellow youths arise! Wake up from the coma. This country is ours. We’re the masters of our ownselves. It’s we and we alone can better our dear country Nigeria. We’re bound as one. Nepotism, favouritism and all sorts of selfishness won’t take us anywhere but to a ditch.

Long life and prosperity my dear Naija. I have a dream that one day you will come of age and lead the whole world for the rest to follow.
