We have found ourselves in a country where white-collar jobs are no longer for the graduates but for closest relatives. A country where offices are not occupied by the Nigerian populace entirely but by who are you and from where are you?
The Nigerian Academy is distorted so much that competency does not guarantee employment, and expertise is not considered based on the level of a person’s education, experience, and even qualifications.
It is an intense bitterness welling up from eyes when those who are intellectual giants are those who are seriously suffering after completing their degree programs. Why are first-class students the worst class of people in the dais of life achievements? Why are degree holders wallowing in penury after the degree? A rhetorical question to the so-called Nigeria leaders.
It is disheartening therefore to observe that graduates suffer for employment including first-class students after spending years on education with sleepless nights to obtain a certificate. Graduates employ themselves in their locality when the government shows no attempt to resolve the problem of unemployment.

The truth is, this country has nothing to do with whether or not you are a first-class student. Reading day and night is part of the journey. Take a little time to calm yourself and ask yourself, “What next after my degree.”Thinking of such will let you realize that Nigeria is for the rich and not for the poor.
Be engaged in extracurricular activities for you know not what tomorrow will birth. In some cases, experience has more value than just being a degree holder and this is what students need to put in mind. The certificate is becoming useless in Nigeria, concerning this, illiterate people who are engaged in business right from the beginning of their lives are even the ones having the best comfort in terms of finance and employing the graduate.
Your certificate can go a long way depending on how vast you think, how creative you are and how your supplication to God is granted. There is more to a degree than someone else could understand.
