Tips on How to Make Bomboloni Doughnuts at Home -By Hafsat Abdullahi Musa
Bomboloni doughnuts, originating from Italy, are delightful treats that are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. With their light and fluffy texture and delicious fillings, they are a perfect indulgence. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to make bomboloni doughnuts in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Ingredients:
– 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
– ¼ cup granulated sugar
– 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
– ½ teaspoon salt
– ½ cup warm milk
– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
– 2 large eggs
– Oil for frying
– Your choice of filling (e.g., Nutella, jam, pastry cream)
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Mix well.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs.
3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
6. Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out to a thickness of about ½ inch.
7. Use a round cookie cutter or a glass to cut out circles from the dough. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
8. Cover the dough circles with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
9. Heat oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
10. Carefully place the dough circles into the hot oil, frying them in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Flip them halfway through to ensure even cooking.
11. Remove the fried doughnuts from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
12. Allow the doughnuts to cool slightly before filling them. You can use a piping bag or a small knife to make a small incision in each doughnut and fill them with your desired filling, such as Nutella, jam, or pastry cream.
13. Dust the filled bomboloni doughnuts.
