4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

6. Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out to a thickness of about ½ inch.

7. Use a round cookie cutter or a glass to cut out circles from the dough. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

8. Cover the dough circles with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

9. Heat oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C).

10. Carefully place the dough circles into the hot oil, frying them in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Flip them halfway through to ensure even cooking.

11. Remove the fried doughnuts from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.

12. Allow the doughnuts to cool slightly before filling them. You can use a piping bag or a small knife to make a small incision in each doughnut and fill them with your desired filling, such as Nutella, jam, or pastry cream.
