Troops Kill Dozens of Boko Haram Fighters in Borno Road Ambush, Three Soldiers Killed
Nigerian soldiers of Operation Hadin Kai repelled a Boko Haram ambush in Gwoza, Borno State, killing scores of insurgents. Three soldiers lost their lives as troops recovered weapons and restored normalcy.
Dozens of Boko Haram terrorists were killed on Saturday after they attempted to ambush troops of the North East Joint Task Force “Operation Hadin Kai” in Borno State.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. while soldiers were conducting routine clearance operations along a major road in Gwoza to detect and remove improvised explosive devices (IEDs), ensuring safe passage for motorists and goods.
According to reliable sources, the insurgents opened fire in an attempt to wreak havoc, but troops displayed gallantry, killing scores of the attackers and recovering several arms and ammunition.
“Troops of North East Joint Task Force ‘Operation Hadin Kai’, while on patrol to clear highways in Gwoza, came under ambush. The troops eliminated dozens of the terrorists, but unfortunately, three soldiers paid the supreme price,” a source revealed.
Residents confirmed that normalcy has since been restored to Gwoza following the successful operation.
Meanwhile, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South, extended condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and praised the troops for their sacrifices. He commended their relentless efforts in combating terrorism and restoring peace to the North East.
