Two Immigration officers killed in Kebbi

Some unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits on Monday attacked and killed two immigration officers at the Kangiwa border, under Arewa local government area of Kebbi State.

In a statement by the Kebbi State Command public relations officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, DSI Abdullahi Isah said the suspected bandits in a group launched an attack on the gallant officers at the entry point in Gari Garba, 12 kilometres away from Kangiwa town, which resulted in the deaths of the two officers on duty at the border.

The deceased are Isah Nafui (DSI 34057) and Garba Haruna Fana (NIS 17796), who have all been buried according to Islamic rites.

He added that while the command mourns the deaths of the gallant officers, an investigation has been launched to nip in the bud the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

He further stated that the unprovoked attack and killing of the gallant officers would not distract them from their official duties of effectively manning the borders to ward off criminal elements.
