UNICAL Prof, EU Ambassador at Davos for Climate Talks

She chaired deliberations at the United Nations (UN) Biodiversity Conference in Montreal, the G20 Bali Summit in Indonesia, the UN Climate Change Conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, and the UN-Water Summit on Groundwater at UNESCO Paris.

Her Excellency Professor Aniebiet Inyang Ntui is currently attending and moderating high-level discussions at the World Economic Forum in Davos centered around Climate and Biodiversity.

She is the Ambassador of the EU’s European Climate Pact, a role which she has been serving since December 2022 after her appointment by the Leadership of the European Union. She also serves as the University Librarian at the University of Calabar, Nigeria.

Climate change and the loss of biodiversity is the greatest challenge of our time, with rising temperatures and ecosystem degradation threatening life on Earth, Davos 2023 offers the ideal opportunity for government, business and civil society to work together and forge partnerships for effective action.  Some of the conversations are taking place at “We Don’t Have Time Davos Hub” which is organized in conjunction with the SDG Tent and the World Systemic Forum hosted by The HUS. institute.

EU to counter U.S. climate game changer with own green deal

The European Union responded on Tuesday to the Unite States’ moves to boost its energy transition with its plans to make life easier for the green industry, saying it would mobilize state aid and a sovereignty fund to keep firms from moving to the United States.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos that the moves would be part of the EU’s Green Deal industrial plan to make Europe a center for clean technology and innovation.

H.E. Ambassador Aniebiet Inyang Ntui is the Most Read Researcher in Nigeria, the 2022 UK Global Prize Winner, a Nobel Prize Nominee, and a Professor of Library and Information Science at the University of Calabar.

She is a stakeholder member of the European Union’s Polifonia Project and an Associate Member of the EU Research Initiative, Europeana. She is also an Overseas Associate Member of the University of the West of Scotland Centre for African Research on Enterprise and Economic Development and the UK-COP 26 Universities Climate Network at the University of Glasgow.
