Police in Nasarawa have arrested the village head of Sarkin Noma, Ero Yaro, for his alleged role in a midnight attack that killed two and left one abducted. The state vows to prosecute all perpetrators.
The village head of Sarkin Noma, identified as Ero Yaro, has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for his alleged role in a violent midnight attack that left two people dead and one person abducted.
Confirming the arrest in Lafia, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the suspect was apprehended following swift police action.
“Information was received that unknown gunmen invaded Sarkin Noma Village, abducting one person and shooting two others dead. Acting on this, the Commissioner of Police deployed operatives from Kadarko Division, who combed the surrounding bushes and arrested 45-year-old Ero Yaro in connection with the crime,” Nansel stated.
In reaction to the incident, the Nasarawa State Government vowed to ensure that those responsible face the full wrath of the law.
A statement issued by the Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Comrade Peter Ahemba, described the attack as a reflection of the growing infiltration of criminal elements in parts of the state, posing a serious security challenge.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the recent midnight attack in Sarkin Noma, Keana Local Government Area, and similar incidents. The state government will not allow enemies of peace to succeed. Security agencies have been directed to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators without delay,” the statement read.
The government further assured residents that it is working closely with security agencies and community stakeholders to strengthen local security frameworks and prevent future attacks, urging citizens to share credible information that could assist in tracking down criminal elements across the state.
