We won’t let victims of Otukpo bank robbery to die in vain — Sen Moro

He said he was saddened by the death of Mr. Uloko who was cut down in his prime. He sympathized with the widow and enjoined her to be strong for herself and the children.

The lawmaker representing Benue South District in the National Assembly, Senator Abba Moro has said all those who lost their lives in the Otukpo bank robbery would not die in vain assuring that everything would be done to bring the masterminds to justice.

He gave the assurance Monday against the backdrop of weekend’s security breach in Otukpo, the Headquarters of the Senatorial District where hooded armed men stormed five commercial banks with explosives and sophisticated weapons, killing the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, for Otukpo and three other officers including several other persons.

Senator Moro in the statement condemned the attack and described it as sad and unfortunate saying “I stand to condemn, in totality, the Friday attack on Otukpo by armed men, which resulted in wanton destruction of lives and property. It’s a very sad incident.

“While sympathizing with the victims of the barbaric attack, I call on security agents to go after the perpetrators of the heinous crime and bring them to book. They must not go scot-free.

“My heart goes out to the families of all those killed and wounded, and the managements of the banks robbed. Everything humanly possible would be done to secure our land.”

Meanwhile Senator Moro who also led a delegation on a condolence visit to the Police Area Command, Otukpo, that was also attacked by the armed men called for “intelligence gathering to forestall such occurrence in the future.”

While condoling with the Nigeria Police Force and families of the officers wounded and killed in the attack, Senator Moro promised to provide furniture for the station and repair the damaged section of the building affected by the explosives used in the attack.

He called on everyone “to be security conscious and report suspected movements to law enforcement agents.”

Senator Moro and his team of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leaders in his constituency also paid condolence visit to the family of the PDP Township Ward 1 Chairman, Mr. George Uloko who was one of the victims of the robbery attack.
