Why Wizkid attacked Don Jazzy over Mavin signee, Ladipoe

Grammy-winning Nigerian musician Wizkid, real name Ayodeji Balogun, has caused a stir on social media with his scathing reply to music mogul Don Jazzy in response to a tweet from Mavin Records signee Ladipoe.

Ladipoe’s remark, which alluded to an Afro beats artist’s career collapse, sparked the dispute.

He wrote, “Nigerian rappers that survived ‘hip hop is dead’ watching Afrobeat artists go through their own.”

Wizkid was alerted to the tweet by an X user who expressed concern over it.

Wizkid shot down any chance of interacting with artists tied to “an influencer” in response, taking a sly dig at Don Jazzy, whose label Ladipoe is released under.
