Woman, 49, commits suicide in Ogun State

According to reports, Victoria Idowu, 49, hanged herself at her home in the Magboro neighbourhood of the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area in Ogun State by hanging herself from a ceiling fan.

Her son was reported to have raised the alarm after returning from church and seeing his mother’s lifeless body.

It was said that the terrible incident was reported to police authorities right away.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the occurrence and stated that no suicide note was discovered at the location.

She said that law enforcement officials from the Ibafo Division had been sent to conduct additional investigation.

“The DPO immediately drafted men to the scene. No suicide note was found.”

The PPRO disclosed further that an investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances behind the incident.

She, however, urged members of the public to always provide support to their loved ones who may be suffering from mental health challenges.

Odutola said an investigation is still ongoing to unravel the circumstances behind the sad incident, saying that suicide is unlawful.
