You can’t suspend me, I have a Court order, Ganduje tell ward leaders

All parties involved in the lawsuit were instructed by the presiding judge to preserve the status quo prior to the alleged emergency meeting of the APC Ganduje Ward Executive Members, which was scheduled to take place at an undisclosed location. Additionally, all actions related to this matter were to be put on hold until the motion on notice was heard and decided.

The All Progressive Congress, APC, Ganduje Ward executive members have been restrained from suspending Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the party and the former Governor of Kano State, until after the substantive application for the enforcement of the applicant’s fundamental rights has been heard and decided by a Federal High Court sitting in Kano and chaired by Justice A.M. Liman.

Through his attorney, Bar. Hadiza Nasir Ahmed, Ganduje, the applicant, had come before the court to request that his fundamental rights to a fair trial and to freedom of association be upheld in accordance with the Enforcement and Procedure Rules, 2009, which are incorporated under Section 46 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.

Following the hearing of an application ex parte filed by his attorney, Bar. Hadiza Nasir Ahmed, Justice Liman issued the directive.

“That all the Respondents, their servants, agents or privies are hereby restrained from implementing and or given effect to the purported decision reached during the purported Emergency Meeting of the alleged Executive Members of APC Ganduje Ward, on the 20 April, 2024 pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application for the enforcement of fundamental rights of the Applicant.

“That all the parties are hereby mandated to maintain status quo before the purported Emergency Meeting of the alleged Executive Members of APC Ganduje Ward, held at unknown location and to stay all actions in respect of this matter, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application,” the court order reads.

The respondents in the suit include; Basiru Nuhu Isah and 25 Others.

Other parties joined as respondents are; Nigeria Police Force, Commissioner of Police, Kano Command, Inspector General of Police and Department of State Security Service.
