#ZariaMassacre: The Atrocities Of Nigerian Government -By Mahadi Amiru Yawale

Right to acquire property as citizens of this country is one of our fundamental Human rights enshrined in Nigerian constitution. Despite the fact it is written and supposed to be rendered to each and every citizen, the government is now intentionally denying this right to some fellow citizens without a single reason which is without doubt violation of Human Rights.

Since 12 December, 2015, the dubious government of Nigeria under the leadership of its President Muhammad Buhari were denying this right to a minority movement led by His Eminence Sheikh Zakzaky(H) popularly known as “Islamic Movement”. The movement,  has been in existence for over 40 years but never has any record of violence.

The movement which consists of over 15 Million followers (as reported by a Saudi Arabia TV channels) happened to be the group of people Nigerian government and media is maltreating to the core.

On 12, December, 2015, Nigerian army first came to the venue of an annual program organised by the movement to pass(as they said) but unfortunately, they were seen stationing theirselves at one NNPC station opposite the venue of the program. Few minutes later, another group of army were seen coming armed to the teeth with sophisticated weapons and lived poisonous ammunitions. They took positions barricading the venue of the program.

It was during this mean time we heard Lt. Kuka Sheka speaking in BBC news saying: The ‘shi’ites’ attacked the convoy of Brigadier General Tukur Yusuf Burutai (the commander of Nigerian army). He even escaped luckily! Understand the matter please! The Nigerian army said they came to pass at the first time, some civilians among the attendants of the program asked of what they were there to do. And now Lt. Kuka Sheka said this. Let’s reason please, how would armless people will even intend to attack the convoy of a ‘whole general’ holding sophisticated weapons and moving in large numbers?

Few hours later, they opened fire with lived and poisonous bullets on the civilians leading to the death of many on the spot. They used different types of guns that you can’t even guess which one they were using. Some were shooting and some were carrying the corpses of those killed. They spent almost 10hours killing lives and using RPG guns to destroy the building.

However, around 10am they proceeded to the resident of the honourable Sheikh (Zakzaky). Without uttering a word, they started shooting mercilessly with guns and bombs. They used weapons beyond one expectations. They killed hundreds and raped uncountable number of virgins young ladies which is against all the rules one may think of. They used knives to torture some girls on their private parts. They burnt lot of people alive in the house including the Sheikh’s elder biological sister. They also killed another three biological sons of the Sheikh. Recall once again, on 25 July, 2015, the Nigerian army under Jonathan Goodluck administration killed another three biological sons of the Sheikh which means six of his biological sons were killed within the years.

On these faithful, unforgettable and unfortunate days, hundreds of lives were intentionally lost irrespective of gender and age. The Nigerian army came to the program armed to the teeth as if they were going to a war. The manner in which they presented theirselves on that occasion was scary because they were not confronting insurgent. They faced the innocent armless citizens with excessive military power killing, maiming and going against all international rules on Human Rights.

During this merciless atrocities, they destroyed the ‘Islamic Movement’ centre called ‘Husainiyya’ without a single reason for doing so. All conditions to be fulfill before building were fulfilled before it was built. The land is not for the government and it is not for anyone! But why did the government destroyed it? Did they followed the conditions they supposed to follow before destroying it?  All the answers of these questions were absolutely NO which simply refers to gross violation of fundamental human rights(rights to acquire property).

The merciless genocidal destructions of these dubious government did not stop at ‘Husainiyya’ but also the Sheikh’s resident. Nevertheless, after some mild days they also went to one of our schools called ‘Fudiyya Islamic Centre(FIC)’ situated also at Zaria city and destroyed it. They also went to all our Islamic schools in zaria and destroyed.

In kaduna state, they destroyed the centre of the Islamic movement centre known as ‘Markaz’ which was also the house of #SheikhMukhtarSahabi who was the representative of Sheikh Zakzaky at Kaduna and also one of the injured victims of the genocide of #ZariaMassacre. The government sponsored some paid #Wahhabi thugs who are claiming to be humans but behaving animalistically. They also went to one of our school located at Kaduna known as ‘Imam Ja’afar(a.s)…’ They burnt whatever is inside it.

They continue taking order in their hands which was absolutely wrong, illegal and unconstitutionally.
Furthermore they continue violating fundamental rights of the patriotic citizens to some parts of the country such as Jos etc. In Jos, they also destroyed the centre of Islamic movement. In saminaka they destroyed our newly build centre too.

On 2 December, 2016, a competent high court in Abuja under the ruling of the honourable Justice Kolawole, gave the government an order to release Sheikh Zakzaky, his wife and also compensate for what they did to him. It is now.

In conclusion, I call upon people of conscience to support the oppressed and to oppose the oppressors today, for you may be the oppressed one tomorrow. I also called the attention of the government to focus on the economic recession of our country and the insurgents not cheating the weak, defenseless and armless citizens, for this is the best solution to our country.

We also demand the urgent release of our leader Sheikh Zakzaky(H), his wife as ordered by the competent high court of the country and the entire victims of this genocide detained illegally and unconstitutionally since #ZariaMassacre.
