I watched a man I respected as a priest who also doubles as a medical personnel talk on the TV today. He spoke extensively about we shutting down the system to battle Covid 19 & he said it is a crazy idea to still go to church during this period that religious gathering won’t help but rather it will escalate.

1. What has the world best medical system done when they are plagued with the virus? Does Germany & France not have doctors and drugs to formulate to battle this. I am not saying that we should ignore the advice but I am being humane and being in a state of hopelessness and knowing how hopeless many Nigerians are & knowing how these religious bodies have given hope of a better future to many when the government has failed them, it will be more suicidal to shut those bodies up.

2. The nations of the world that declared a total shut down have some social welfarism package in store for their populace but it is hunger that will kill people if that is done in Nigeria. There are many people that live on daily pay like Bricklayers, market women, etc and if the street is shut down, how will they live and fend for themselves and children. No wonder a woman said on the street that it is better Corona virus kills her than hunger.
