When injustice suddenly becomes the law, sooner or later, resistance becomes a duty. Religious rascality should have no place in our faith. Sadly, most religious leaders have failed to instill discipline and tolerance in their followers thus, resulting to series of unending killing of innocent people.

The incident that occurred at St. Philip’s Catholic Parish, Baki Iku, very close to Zuma Rock in Niger State last week Friday, was barbaric, monstrous, and uncalled for. Some Catholics had gone to the Church to pray and were attacked by Muslims who claimed that Friday is their day of prayer and that the Church only has right to worship Sundays. They broke down the doors of the Church, beat up the Seminarian and Sacristan, drove those supplicating at the Blessed Sacrament, and destroyed all other valuables in the Church – chairs, musical instruments etc. This is not how to live. This is impunity.

This is not the first and certainly may probably not be the last. An innocent Preacher was murdered in cold blood last week in Kubwa; many weeks before that, another person was attacked just by affirming an obvious fact of him being a Christian and not participating in the Muslim abstinance ordinances. The stories of attacks and brutal murdering of Christians by some ignorant Muslims are numerous in Nigeria today. Christians are being targeted and murdered for no good reason. Please let’s put a stop to this dastardly acts. Its very sad, appalling and grossly irresponsible that all these hates and killings are happening and no real, proactive action or measure is being taken by the government to end it. No one religion have the monopoly of violence. Often time when a people are pushed to the wall, they turn to face reality. If these incessant killing of Christians continue, it may result to a religious crisis that we all don’t want.

I call on all the Imams as well as Muslim leaders in Nigeria, to call their people to order so we can all live in peace and help build a sustainable Nigeria.

God bless Nigeria.
