ABU Zaria, FCE Zaria, COE Kafanchan; have failed their Students/Graduates! -By Yusuf Adinoyi

Still on the matter of conducting competency Test to Teachers in kaduna state, which is been scheduled to hold in December, more facts are beginning to show up. It was confirmed that ABU Zaria, FCE Zaria and COE kafanchan were contracted to set the competency Test Questions.
Really!
I was so displeased after hearing such information.

Most of these Teachers are the bonafide products of these schools and are certified. I can’t really imagine how those Teachers will feel that the school they graduated from could not be so bold to tell the state government that what they are trying to do is a total abysmal wickedness but they came forward to pertake in the evil act.

Let me ask this questions:

• if ABU Zaria should come and set the questions, are they indirectly telling us that they lack the merit of graduating Students?
• if FCE Zaria and COE kafanchan whom are both Teaching institutions would come and set Questions for Competency Test, please are they telling us that they are now doubting their own impart on their students?
• how much could be given to them for them to have even accepted to set the questions for their own graduates?
• if they, as institutions are setting competency Test Questions, does that mean the institutions are not competent?

We should be very sensible, how can an institution that have graduated bright students and they entered into the labor market, got employed to impart knowledge and skills, only for same institutions to be called again to come and set Questions of Competence to their own students, is a total loss of focus and sense.

If I may say, those lecturers who have agreed to do such have a questionable character.
This is a big slap on the face of all the institution who agreed to conduct such Questions.
They also need to undergo such Competency test, to check their own Competency.
If today ASSU and COEASU decide to stand with the Federal Government to conduct a Competency Test for all lecturers in Nigeria and they contracted the institutions that mostly this lecturers graduated from, please how will they feel?

I am really not happy about the whole situation, the Kaduna state government is only misplacing it’s priority, there are numerous things that needs to be done on the Education aspect but wasting money on a kangaroo test.
Implement the teachers promotions, pay Salaries as at when due, give them the minimum wage, give them their confirmation and pensionable letters and see if these Teachers will not do more than they have being doing.

The Government should know that these Teachers are family men and women, they have families to cater for, if they drive them away in the guise of Competency Test, they have cut off the livelihood of so many people under them, please what do they stand to achieve?

The state government should do the right thing, and the people are ready also to follow the right thing.
