George Agbakahi, South-East leader of the Tinubu Support Organisation, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a “dangerous distraction,” accusing the opposition party of excessive campaigning without substance as Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections.

In a Friday interview on Arise News, Agbakahi criticized the ADC’s publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, for aggressively promoting the party across media platforms while noting that neither the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) nor the presidency has officially launched campaigns.

“These are independent groups showing support for APC. They have every right to do so under freedom of expression,” he said. “But the ADC is constantly in campaign mode without purpose.”

Agbakahi accused opposition parties of lacking direction, stating: “All we are hearing from the African Democratic Congress is just abusing the current administration. There is no vision. There is no policy. There is no agenda. I think what we see is like old wine in a new bottle. All of them in the African Democratic Congress are about the same.”

He defended President Bola Tinubu’s economic record, citing a drop in inflation from 40.5% to 22.22% and highlighting infrastructure projects in the Southeast as proof of the administration’s impact.

“Go to the South-East and see exactly what is going on there,” Agbakahi said. “The president has done a whole lot concerning infrastructural development. Almost all the major roads in the southeast are now under construction.”

He listed key projects, including:

  • The Enugu-Onitsha Road (“not touched by previous administrations”)

  • Enugu-Port Harcourt Road

  • Aba-Ikot Ekpene Road (“untouched for 18 to 20 years”)

Agbakahi also pointed to the South-East Development Commission (SEDC) and its N150 billion economic development fund as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to the region.

The APC chieftain warned against divisive politics, declaring: “If anybody talks about a parallel government, I think they should be rebuked and condemned.”

“The point remains that APC and President Bola have done a whole lot to improve the well-being of Nigerians,” he concluded. “That’s just the truth.”
