The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has urged worshippers to identify and eliminate negative personal and spiritual influences — which he referred to as “Jonahs” — in order to experience divine progress.

Speaking during Day Two of the 2025 Holy Ghost Congress themed “The God of All Flesh,” Adeboye addressed thousands of attendees, encouraging them to confront the sources of stagnation, setbacks, and what he described as “divine resistance.”

Drawing from Jonah Chapter 1, he said many people struggle because they hold onto harmful habits, attitudes, or relationships that must be “thrown overboard.”

“The God of all flesh wants to talk to someone tonight. There is a stranger in the boat of that person’s life. Jonah must get out,” Adeboye declared.

His sermon, titled “Jonah Must Go,” targeted individuals experiencing stalled progress, becoming burdens to others, or facing overwhelming challenges.

“Take a look at yourself and ask: Why am I facing divine resistance? Why is the wind blowing against me? What is my Jonah?” he asked.

Adeboye listed unbelief, doubt, fear, dishonesty, immoral thoughts, complacency, and negative associations among the “Jonahs” believers must remove with God’s help. He warned that “white lies” and unethical business practices could also disrupt one’s destiny.

He urged worshippers to reject fear — including fear of death, attacks, or kidnapping — and to eliminate every form of doubt concerning God’s promises. He also advised Christians to cut off habits or relationships that weaken spiritual growth, stressing the importance of personal Bible study and evangelism.

“Anything that can truncate your destiny — friendships that are not leading you closer to God — must go,” he said.

Adeboye emphasized urgency: “You have to do something about these before they do something about you. You must get rid of sin before it gets rid of you,” adding that divine help is needed to overcome such obstacles.

The session concluded with intense prayers as worshippers responded to the call to identify and expel their personal “Jonahs.” The 2025 RCCG Holy Ghost Congress continues under the theme “The God of All Flesh.”
