After The Separation Of Bauchi School Boys And Girls -By Zakariya Baba Hardawa

The separation idea will have gone beyond mere “Achievement” I have seen a vacume for the employment and training of more staff and female teachers in the State. I have also seen an opportunity for a specialist especially the education Philosophers and Psychologists, IRK/CRK teachers and Scholars as well as Guidance and Councilors. There is also need for engagement of trained security guards for all the schools, as I happened to know physically that most of the government schools does not have an ordinary guard called “Mai gadi” in my native language.

Now that the Bauchi State Secondary School Students are gender separated, a great achievement by the Honorable Commissioner in person of Dr. Aliyu Tilde and Bauchi State Government at large. I hope the dou, either the person or the Government are not using sentiment to cover up their mess in the education sector. I supported the idea of separation from it’s conception to the execution regardless of my political differences and sentiments, one can refer to my social media post and my interview with TrustTv.

With Dr. Tilde as a Scholar, a genius and a trustworthy politician whom the good people of Bauchi State celebrated his appointment as Honorable Commissioner of Education, He need to do something tangible to justify the confidence reposed to him.

However, it seems clearly that the system did not favours him, that is why all his policies fails, including the over faulted separation of Boys and Girls which turned in to protest by the students and some parents, which I personally overlooked and supported him, because it is a good idea considering the background of the State and previous antecedents. Moreover, the separation is encouraged even in the developed countries including the United Kingdom who pledge support to any School that is Separating Boys and Girls because they could not afford to undergo total separation as at the time of their discovery that “Students Performed much better when they are separated.

Now that the Honorable Commissioner achieved the said separation, is it going to be his only achievement? Of course history will remember him as the person who separated the Secondry School Boys and Girls in Bauchi State. But, is that all he could offer under this administration? What plan did he have to other institution? What about other antecedents of Students teachers relationship? Is he leaving a He teacher to head or teach the she students?

The separation idea will have gone beyond mere “Achievement” I have seen a vacume for the employment and training of more staff and female teachers in the State. I have also seen an opportunity for a specialist especially the education Philosophers and Psychologists, IRK/CRK teachers and Scholars as well as Guidance and Councilors. There is also need for engagement of trained security guards for all the schools, as I happened to know physically that most of the government schools does not have an ordinary guard called “Mai gadi” in my native language.

The protesting students are complaining about distance. Why did the Government failed to provide or renovate the dilapidated closer schools such as Wayan Makafi, Games Village, Garba Noma, etc.
History will never forget the current administration of Bauchi State as the worst, compared to all other previous administration, when you remove the SUBEB projects there is visibly nothing tangible on ground, all our secondary school structures are either unhabitable or dilapidated. During the previous APC led administration of Governor M. A. Abubakar, we have witnessed a total remodelling of Government Secondary School Kofar Wambai, Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Bauchi, General Hassan Usman Katsina Special School, Special School Kafin Madaki and Government Secondary School Soro among others. On the other hand, all the others schools that are supposed to be followed are rendered even useless, the Wayan Makafi Secondary school is left not only unhabitable, but also a hiding camp for criminals in the city centre of Bauchi State. The Students and Teachers of Government Day Secondary School Garba Noma and Government Day Secondary School of Games Village built by the PDP led administration of Governor Ahmad Adamu Mu’azu were rendered helpless in dilapidated buildings. These are all within the city center of Bauchi State. Not to mention of schools outside the headquarters like the Government Secondary School of my home town, Hardawa. Established some fourteen years ago by Isah Yuguda administration that is still using a borrowed facilities of a Primary school. And, both the lenders and the borowers are in difficult situation as the structures are adequately in habitable.

The policies of this administration on Education is the worst, students were denied access to the state scholarship with complex admission to even secondary schools. Before this administration, I have enrolled many tallented Almajiris and less previlleged children to secondary schools, including the Special Education schools in Yelwa. This is not possible nowadays. Because even the principals can not offer admission, as the ministry of education is converted to a mere revenue generating or saving ministry. So sad that the complex admission policy is to reduced the “Burden” of paying WAEC and NECO to the students. It is supprising that the even those that were enrolled in to some selected tertiary institution under the M. A Youth empowerment Program were immediatly withdrewned by this administration.
