Beyoncé, Venus Williams, Nicole Kidman to Co-Chair 2026 Met Gala
The Met announces Beyoncé, Venus Williams, Nicole Kidman and Anna Wintour as co-chairs for the 2026 Met Gala. The star-studded event will align with the “Costume Art” exhibition opening May 10.
Global superstar Beyoncé, tennis icon Venus Williams, and Academy Award–winning actress Nicole Kidman will serve as co-chairs for the 2026 Met Gala, joining Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced Wednesday in New York.
The Met Gala — held annually on the first Monday of May since its debut in 1948 — began as an elite gathering for New York’s social circle. Under Wintour’s leadership since the 1990s, it has evolved into fashion’s most-watched red-carpet spectacle and a major fundraiser for the Met’s Costume Institute.
While the dress code for the 2026 edition has yet to be disclosed, it will complement the upcoming “Costume Art” exhibition, opening May 10, which examines representations of the “dressed body” in art across centuries.
The three celebrity co-chairs represent top-tier achievements in music, sports, and film. The event marks Beyoncé’s first Met Gala appearance in ten years; she last served as an honorary co-chair in 2013. Williams, 45, a seven-time Grand Slam champion still active on the WTA Tour, will follow in the footsteps of her sister Serena Williams, who co-hosted in 2019. Kidman, who previously co-chaired in 2003 and 2005, is preparing for multiple 2026 releases, including Practical Magic 2 and Scarpetta, inspired by Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling crime novels.
The Met also unveiled its 2026 host committee, led by Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello and actress Zoë Kravitz. Other members include singers Sabrina Carpenter and Doja Cat, former ballet star Misty Copeland, and WNBA champion A’ja Wilson.
