It is not a matter of Biafra but a matter of being realistic with ourselves. I am Igbo. But if we look at the Igbo’s complain we will discover that most of our agitations are as a result of the one sided treatment in Nigeria, unconstitutional favouritism favoring some parts of Nigeria, lack of dividends of democracy and so on. But if we may ask don’t we have governors, legislative members, councillors etc. representing us. We have. But we have misplaced our priorities. We should ask our eastern senators why is that we were not properly included in the rail projects in Nigeria? Why has the dredging of the Niger stopped? Why are there no medical facilities in our ward. We should learn to channel our complains to these people. How many of us know our senators, our councillors.

Most of us do not know the roles of these people and this is what has landed us where we are. We have been told not to pay light bills without the prepaid meters but we still pay. Why? Because we assume if we talk or complain it will not work. With regards to our Igbo councillors how many times have we complained to them about the poor primary health care facilities in our wards. Also, how many times have we complained to the councilors about the recent Fulani herdsmen invading our farm land. Some groups made a controversial statement saying Igbo’s should go have we demanded from our reps why have they not summoned the inspector general of police and other relevant security agencies why no arrest has been made. How many times have we protested that they should put measures to curtail the spread of the Fulani men. Those lands exist in a ward and not in vacuum. If we do not open our eyes, even if we have the Biafra it will still be same. The problem is not from the Fulani man or Hausa man or any other place.

It us lack of our responsibility to ensure that our representatives represent us well and do what we elected them to do. That is why we practice democracy.
