Burkina Faso govt suspends The Guardian, Deutsche Welle, other news outlets

The CSC previously declared on Thursday that it had ordered internet service providers to halt access to Human Rights Watch, VOA, and the BBC from Burkinabe territory for a period of two weeks.

According to a statement from the CSC, Burkina Faso has suspended a number of foreign news organisations, some of them for an extended amount of time.

The French newspaper Le Monde, the British magazine The Guardian, the German radio Deutsche Welle, and the French broadcaster TV5 Monde are among those mentioned in the weekend order.

Because of their reporting on a Human Rights Watch (HRW) report accusing the army of attacking civilians in its fight against jihadists, they were suspended.

The French regional newspaper Ouest-France, APAnews, and Agence Ecofin were among the other news outlets included in the most recent statement.
