Crisis Erupt As Oyo State Amotekun Corps Coordinators Stole 24 Cows -By Segun Adebowale

The administrative faults of the management team of the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps is the reason behind integrity failure of the Oyo State Amotekun’s operative to behave themselves as security personnel. The fundamental duty of any security agency is to reduce crime rate to the barest minimum, if eradication seem impossible. In making the security personnel not to be involved in crimes which they are waging war against, the Nigerian Police Commission and other body responsible for the regulation of affairs of Security Agency across the world introduced professionalism to the Security agency. But the callosity and greediness of the Management team of the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps makes professionalism their mortal enemy under the very watch of the Oyo State Government.

Several atrocities had been committed by the Oyo State Amotekun personnel which is the outcomes of the faults of the Oyo State Security Agency Management team. The heinous acts committed recently by the selected coordinators by the Oyo State Amotekun Commandant in Oyo town is a good indication that the perpetrators are carrying out the assignment and mandate given to them by the management team of the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps, especially the mandate of Col. Olayinka Olayanju and his State 2ic, Akinro Kazeem.

One may be 100% correct, if juxtapose the administrative techniques employed by Col. (Rtd) Olayinka Olayanju as a retired colonel in Nigerian Army where professionalism is reigning, who connive with his 2ic, a garage boss, whose interest is now prevailing in the affairs of the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps, despite the fact that the Oyo State Amotekun Board of Governance are made up of experienced people, whose experience is being dragged into the mud of unforgettable history of failure as the pioneer Oyo State Board of Governing members and chairman, following the unprofessional administration using to scuttle the effort of the Oyo State Government on Security. The recent snatching and selling of twenty four cows by the Oyo town Amotekun coordinators, if properly investigated the hand of the Oyo State 2ic should be there, simply because, it is Akinro that ignored the immediate order of the State Commandant, Col. (rtd) Olayinka, who has verbally removed the Oyo East coordinator commonly address as “Asekun” who assault his fellow officer while taken operational van to Ifa festival in Oyo town. Honestly speaking, if not that “Asekun” is a prominent OPC member, his removal as Oyo East coordinator could have been effected and the National disgrace of snatching and selling of Twenty four cows belonging  to Fulani by South West Security Agent of Oyo State chapter might have been averted. Presently the Nigerian Police in Ibadan has apprehended the culprits. It is obvious fact that Col. (rtd) Olayanju Olayinka and his 2ic AKinro know that all the Odua People Congress (OPC) members in the Oyo State Amotekun are either thieves or thugs, especially those appointed by Col. Olayinka and Akinro as either Coordinator or operation leader.

Had it been that the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps is being administered on the principles of professionalism, all these heinous acts of the Oyo State Amotekun would have been curtailed. The Oyo State Government thinks that professionalism is nothing; see how heavily Engineer Seyi Makinde administration is paying for the unprofessional administration in the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps. The risk assessment involved in application of professionalism into the activities of the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps is more controlled than the risk assessment and damage experiencing in the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps. It is high time professional practice is introduced to the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps. Stop using Odua People Congress (OPC) as yard-stick for a State owned Security out-fit, or else more disastrous results await the operations of the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps. 

The killing of the innocent boy in Ibadan at Apete area in December,2022  who the Oyo State Amotekun Corps involved want to justify his killing by alleged that the boy is a thief, is because the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps Management team failed to let the Oyo State Amotekun operatives realized what the code of conduct and rule of Engagement is, and the copy of the rule of engagement that define the circumstances, conditions, degree and manner in which the use of force, or actions which might be construed as provocative may be applied. This rule of engagement is internal rules or directives afford the military forces. This is one of the basic or fundamentals of military principle that is grossly militating against the professional performance of the Oyo State Amotekun operatives. 

It is even unprofessional that the newly recruited AMOB Oyo State Amotekun operatives were not paid training allowance and their January salary has not been paid, should this inhumane treatment make them to do otherwise, who to blame? 

The unprofessional administration employed to maintain the political appointment status as Oyo state Amotekun Commandant by the retired Nigerian Army Colonel, Olayanju Olayinka, (despite the standard and professional administration operating in the Nigeria Army till date). This unprofessional administration is attesting the fact that the Oyo State Amotekun Commandant Col. (rtd) Olayinka Olayanju, his 2ic Akinro (who are perpetrating evil act under the immunity power of the Executive Governor of Oyo State) as well as the OPC members recruited into the Oyo State Amotekun Corps in year 2020 are all birds of a feather that fly and operate together for corrupt practice, using the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps status to carry out their criminal acts. Like father, like son, there is no doubt, the executive power of Oyo State Government is behind these criminals recruited as Security operatives in Oyo State. The foreigner that his Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde imposed on the Pace-setter Security outfit is behaving in a foreign way with attempt of turning the State to den for hoodlums and thugs to carry out criminal activities.  

All these ugly incidences in the operation of the Oyo State Amotekun’s operation make it imperative to reiterate the needs to professionalize the operations of the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps. And if the Oyo State Government should bring in professionalism to the administration of the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps administration, the performance of the Oyo State Amotekun operative shall be 95% conform to military / para-military standard, if not 100%. Likewise, the Security funds spending on the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps shall be more appreciated and accounted for, rather than the funds misappropriating by the Oyo State Amotekun Management teams.
