Gov Abba Yusuf: No One Can Create Division Between Me and Kwankwaso
Kano Governor Abba Yusuf dismisses reports of a rift with Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, reaffirming loyalty to his mentor and the Kwankwasiyya movement while denouncing attempts to divide them.
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has dismissed speculations of a rift between him and his political mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, saying that no amount of manipulation or rumor will succeed in creating discord between them.
Speaking on Tuesday in Madobi during an event marking Kwankwaso’s 69th birthday, the governor reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the former governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
“Those within and outside trying to create a quarrel between me and our leader, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will not succeed,” Yusuf declared.
He further vowed to uphold the values and vision of the Kwankwasiyya ideology, describing Kwankwaso as a divinely ordained leader whose influence continues to shape the state’s political and developmental direction.
“We will continue to follow the legacy and principles of the Kwankwasiyya movement because Kwankwaso is a God-given leader,” Yusuf said.
The governor also prayed for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) national leader’s long life and good health, commending his commitment to the progress of Kano and the nation.
The clarification comes amid widespread rumors of a power tussle between the two leaders, following the emergence of a political movement known as ‘Abba Tsaya da Kafarka’ (Abba, Stand on Your Feet), allegedly championed by former officials Dr. Baffa Bichi and Alhaji Salisu Digol.
The group reportedly advocates for greater autonomy for Yusuf’s administration — a move some observers interpreted as a sign of friction within the Kwankwasiyya fold.
However, Governor Yusuf’s latest statement appears aimed at quelling such speculation, reaffirming unity and continuity within the movement’s leadership.
