Hajj 2024: 2 Kwara pilgrims die in Medina

Saliu Mohammed, who came with Batch 3 of the state contingent, is said to have passed away in an intensive care unit of a public hospital in Madina following a brief illness, according to the board.

The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Board has declared the passing of two of its pilgrims who went back to Medina, Saudi Arabia, to be with their Lord.

The Kwara State Pilgrims Welfare Board “deeply regrets these sad events, but submits totally to the decree and ultimate knowledge of Allaah in all affairs,” according to a statement released Wednesday by Executive Secretary Abdulsalam Abdulkadir.

The statement expressed sincere condolences to their families and begged Allah to console them and pardon the departed.

Saliu Mohammed, who came with Batch 3 of the state contingent, is said to have passed away in an intensive care unit of a public hospital in Madina following a brief illness, according to the board.

The second pilgrim, Hajia Hawawu Mohammed (Batch 9) also died following what Saudi authorities have investigated and found to be an unfortunate suicidal episode from the rooftop of her apartment in Madina.
