Igbos, Let’s Get Involved With “IPOB” -By Charles Ihemegbulem

Please permit me to butress my point making reference to the Anambra election, after which I will visit the open letter wrote by Bianca Ojukwu to her late husband Ojukwu. Then cap it up with Nelson Mandala, a freedom fighter who found something that made him dropped his arm.

It was a Sunday morning, when the three trees of Ajala were still standing firm (pardon me if you are not from my village). We had bearly arrived home from Sunday Mass.

Boom! There was chaos everywhere. The sky was clouded and noisy. Everyone was scampering for safety.
What happened?

One of these trees was an enclave of massive bee hive. On this said day, two squirrels got lost in their romance and barged on the bees.
As a result, the entire clan was forced to remain indoors till night. Even preacher from Jehovah Witness who came on evangelism ran into our house and stay with us till night.

Again, I once witnessed a fatal accident; a drunk driver indulged in a reckless driving. As a result he pulled a stunt that caused multiple accident. More than 5 cars damaged. Serious injuries. Two persons died on the spot.

Do you know what happened to this drunk driver? Exactly nothing. Both him and his car were intact. I screamed; this is not fair!

The world is not static. Thus, it is ruled by those who always dare. Wether good or evil. Spectators, undecissives, dociles and critics end up as collateral damage.

No matter how responsible, decent and safe you play, the consequences of someone else’s action and inaction might locate you and mess you up.

Wether any Igbo man likes it or not, IPOB has become synonymous to us. The sorry state of our country Nigeria made it possible. However, in it is both life and death. So we must be circumspect.

Please permit me to butress my point making reference to the Anambra election, after which I will visit the open letter wrote by Bianca Ojukwu to her late husband Ojukwu. Then cap it up with Nelson Mandala, a freedom fighter who found something that made him dropped his arm.

*It was observed that the No-Election-Order, declared by the IPOB in respect to the Anambra election and the dimension the enforcement of it took further rose insecurity profile in the south east; created room for infiltration of hoodlums to took down some of our best; gave reason for the ruling government to deploy their security men to come do their bidding.

Some argued that some leadership of IPOB was heavily paid to do so.

Others said it was an ill advise but agreed it would have largely benefited the ruling party.

However, God is gracious. The decision of IPOB to cancel the no election order at almost the event hour was just a Divine intervention.

I can bet that all those who voted for Charles Soludo were the same people that would have exactly obeyed that no election order and stayed at home.

Majority of those that voted PDP and YPP wouldn’t have come out equally. Meaning APC would been declared winner without stress.

*Let’s look at the open letter of Bianca Ojukwu to her late husband The Ojukwu. You will understand that the greatest enemy we have is within but they have succeeded in pointing a lesser enemy to us outside.

No. We must start the cleansing from within us and among us.

This letter is simply saying that there is no corruption that goes on in ASO Rock that does not go on in the various South Eastern Government Houses.

She directly accused the sitting governor of Anambra of ruthlessness, impunity, intimidation, betrayal and marginalisation.

*uMkhonto we Sizwe.

Have you heard of this phrase?

It means “spear of the nation”. It was the armed wing of the African National Congress, founded in 16 December 1961, by Nelson Mandela, in the wake of the Sharpeville massacre. Its mission was to fight against the South African Government.

The South African Government designated the group as a terrorist organization and eliminated most of them with unprecedented collateral damages, social and economic setbacks.

Eventually Nelson Mandala was captured and imprisoned 27years! In the lockdown a transformation happened.

The same Nelson Mandala upon his freedom made a statement though very annoying but true: “we can not win a war, but we can win election”.

At this point the word of God prevailed; “for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God” James 1:20.

Those whom Mr Mandala convinced to pickup arms with him and died in the process only left their families in pains. When he realized the best way to go nobody was harmed yet he achieved much more results.

I believe if all Igbos get interested in IPOB, we can now be in a position to bring to the fore more opinions and accurate ordered proceedures to address our challenges.

In all, I greatly salute every IPOB man and woman who strived to this level where even people like me have seen the need to participate. IPOB doors must be open to all inclusive participation.

Every Igbo person must now arise let’s collectively reason together on the best way out or the best way together.

Else, each time the squirrel hits the bee hive we must be ready to take the consequences. And by the time we realize the right path to have toll the wrong path we followed will be our regret and lost alone.
