Ignore group seeking for the oil pipeline surveillance contract to be split – Saidu
“I have been very active in the drive for peace in the Niger Delta .I was one of those that fought for creation of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, the amnesty programme. So when I say splitting the oil contract in the Niger Delta will create problem it is because I have been part of the struggle for peace in the Niger Delta region.”

Arewa leader Alhaji Musa Saidu has stated the federal government should disregard a group called the Northern Emancipation Network, which objected to his request that the government not split the pipeline monitoring contract handed to Tantita security services Nigeria Limited in the Niger Delta region.
It will be recalled that Alhaji Saidu, known for their critical stance on Niger Delta issues, advised the federal government against splitting the surveillance job awarded to Tantita, a company owned by an ex-militant leader, Chief Government Ekpumupolo aka Tompolo, saying it would cause problems across Niger Delta oil-producing communities, with each demanding a share of the job from the government.
The northern group in a statement in some national newspaper, dismissed the position of the revered northern leader, Alhaji Saidu, urging the federal government to go ahead to split the job.
Saidu said if they were truly a northern group having the interest of the north they should have been bothered with how to restore enduring peace to several communities in the north that had been allegedly taken over by bandits.
“I just read where a group called on the federal government to split the pipeline contract. They don’t live in Niger Delta.
“Bandits have taken over villages, farms in the norths, the group should be concerned about the security situation in the north if they really exist.
” You can’t be in Abuja or somewhere else in the north talking about oil contracts in the Niger Delta.
They should go and agitate over insecurity in the north to see it is ended.
” I was Special Adviser to late Chief Harold Dappa Biriyi. I still stand on my position that they should not split the job.
” Abiye Abaku commander Niger Delta volunteer force said at a time that any one in Niger Delta who doesn’t know Saidu is not active in the region.
