Former Governor of Benue State and Senator Gabriel Suswam has refuted claims that he has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that such rumours are false and beneath his political standing.

Speaking in Makurdi during a visit to the residence of Prof. Saasongo Nongu, Suswam stated that he remains a committed member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and would never abandon the party secretly.

“I am too big to dump the ADC in secret. Leaving the party quietly would be the height of disgrace to my personality and a betrayal to my loyalists,” he said.

The former governor emphasised his loyalty to the ADC, describing himself as “a proud and dedicated member” determined to strengthen the party’s structure and expand its influence across Benue State and beyond.

The visit attracted a large gathering of ADC supporters and political figures, including Hon. Benjamin Mzondu, former member representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, as well as several former PDP stalwarts.

Suswam urged party members to unite behind Mzondu, describing him as a visionary and dependable leader committed to advancing the ADC’s values and objectives.

In response, Mzondu expressed appreciation to Senator Suswam for his continuous mentorship and political guidance.

“Senator Suswam has been a political father to me. His wisdom and leadership have shown me the right path to follow, and I remain loyal to him and the cause of our great party,” Mzondu said.
