Insecurity: Buhari is dangling between incompetence and compromise -By Chima Christian

Even when full allowance has been made for the benefit of the doubt, a lot of Nigerians, myself included, still don’t know where to place President Muhammadu Buhari.

Suspicions about vicarious complicity in the fight against terrorism have always been there. But the idea that it might have gone higher up is too frightening to ponder, let alone openly discuss.

As consequential as it is, the idea of an incompetent president is far better than the idea of a compromised president. With all that is happening, President Buhari, in the eyes of many, is dangling between incompetence and compromise. Fear of the later, given his prior relationship with a terror group, is not unfounded.

I’m praying in my heart of hearts that the trouble with Buhari remains in the corridors of incompetence. Any incursion into the other realm is unimaginable.

The idea that the highest office in the land might have been compromised is as grave in its implication as it is difficult to contemplate.

The night keeps getting darker, yet Africa’s morning will come.
