IS YOUR DRESS READY

IS YOUR DRESS READY?

“Wow! Carrie your dress is beautiful. I wish I had one like it.”
Carrie smiled and said, “Thanks Lisa, but you’ve got a nice one too.”

“Mum says Dad couldn’t afford your kind of dress. I really love yours,” Lisa said with a tinge of sadness in her voice.

“Lisa! Lisa darlyn!”

That was Lisa’s Mum calling out from the kitchen. She overheard their conversation and needed to set Lisa’s mind aright.

In came Lisa, interrupting her thoughts. Then the partly rehearsed sermon began:

“Lisa dear, you know Dad and Mum love you and want the best for you, right?”

Lisa silently stirred at the floor as though she had problems with the now loosely tiled floor.

“Remember we are still owing your school fee and thanks to your Head Mistress, we’ve been allowed to pay up next term.” Again, Lisa was silent.

Her Mum continued…

“That dress you love is way more than your school fee…”

Lisa’s Mum went on give Lisa a litany of what was more important than one expensive dress for one Christmas season. She did so in the sweetest way possible and before long Lisa combined laughter, giggles and smiles as she walked out the kitchen door. This time, even the loosely tiled floor announced her exit as she stamped on them gleefully. Carrie had since returned to their mansion- Lisa cared less. She knew better. Nothing could ever make her feel inferior. She had and felt what was most important- her parents’ love. She was only seven.

What if you were told that you are more important than all other items you’ve prepared for Christmas?

What if you heard that God was visiting your household even if you may not have the best of mansions or that Car you wished to mark the season with?

What if you were told that God is anxiously waiting to receive you in the ministry of reconciliation and cares less about your sin but the love He has for you?

What if you were told that no sin is greater than the blood of Jesus which was lavishly shed for you?

Who are you to condemn yourself when the Most High prices you high?

Friends, even Lisa already left the company of her friend Carrie- a possible unnecessary materialistic influence. Refuse to be carried away.

And like the Lisa with her Mummy, answer the call of your Father. Choose to put more value and attention on the love of God and how dearly He holds you.

He is coming just because of YOU! And this YOU must not be preoccupied with materialistic preparations. He comes to you just the way you are, be you a Mechanic, a Doctor, a Trader, a Farmer, a Lawyer, a Student. All that is required is that beautiful dress of your heart- sparkling clean and well scented.

Lisa has prepared hers since the beginning of Advent.

Is your own dress ready???
