Israeli Strikes Kill 45 in Gaza Despite Ceasefire Agreement
At least 45 people have been killed in renewed Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, as both sides trade blame over a ceasefire breach. Hospitals report dozens injured across multiple locations.
The death toll in Gaza rose to 45 on Sunday after a fresh wave of Israeli airstrikes pounded several parts of the enclave, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency and local hospitals. The latest figure updates an earlier report of 33 fatalities.
The Israeli military confirmed it had targeted “dozens of Hamas positions” across the Gaza Strip, even as both Israel and Hamas accused each other of breaching the nine-day-old ceasefire brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.
“At least 45 people were killed as a result of Israeli air strikes on various areas of the Gaza Strip,” said Mahmud Bassal, spokesman for Gaza’s civil defence agency, which operates under Hamas authority.
Four hospitals across the territory corroborated the figures, reporting dozens of deaths and injuries from the renewed bombings.
- Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat recorded 24 deaths and 73 injuries.
- Al-Aqsa Hospital reported 12 fatalities.
- Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis confirmed five deaths, while
- Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City registered four.
Bassal detailed several of the incidents, noting that:
- Six civilians were killed in Zuwaida town, central Gaza.
- Another six, including children, died in two separate strikes near Nuseirat, leaving 13 wounded.
- A woman and two children were killed when a drone strike hit a tent for displaced families near Asdaa City, north of Khan Yunis.
- Two people, among them a journalist, were killed in a strike in western Zuwaida.
- Another two died when Israeli fire hit a tent in the Al-Ahli Club area of Nuseirat.
- Two others were killed in eastern Jabalia, while one man died in western Gaza City when a strike hit an apartment building.
Several victims later succumbed to their injuries, bringing the overall toll to 45.
When contacted, the Israeli military said it was still verifying reports of casualties. However, later on Sunday, it announced that it had resumed enforcement of the ceasefire in Gaza.
