Kadpoly Acting Rector Tussle: Beyond The Retraction Of Allegations On Bugaje -By Khamisu Isah

Ordinarily, the retraction from Royal news on its unsubstantiated blame on Professor Idris Bugaje for the unending crises that rocked the Kaduna polytechnic is enough to set the record straight, one needs to ask some questions on the motives behind the blackmailing of the former rector.

It is a miatake and deliberate act of administrative misconduct to described Professor Idris Muhammad Bugaje the past Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic as a person who wants to destabilize Kaduna Polytechnic. While this must be link to the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic who has been trying to blackmail the good personality of Bugaje forgetting that he was the man behind his successful journey to the acting rectorship position.

There is no gainsaying the fact, those who accused Bugaje for meddling or interfering in the affairs of the institution are the real saboteurs. These greedy and desperate individuals want to bend rules in other to remain in office inspite of glaring abuse of polytechnic acts.

Professor Idris Muhammad Bugaje who had substituted his international earned gotten opportunity to rescue Kaduna Polytechnic at the time of its collapse cannot be and never be among the people that will ever have an intention of destroying it. Bugaje did not apply to be the rector of Kaduna Polytechnic but he was consulted and begged by the search team to come and be because Kaduna Polytechnic was suffering collapse and corruption. At the time consulted he had an appointment outside the country but dropped it to contribute for the progress of Kaduna Polytechnic. Before his coming there was allegations of misconduct among staff and students and Tetfund was not disbursing any penny to Kaduna Polytechnic for almost a decade because of no return of expenditure. While private organizations fear to collaborate with Kaduna Polytechnic and the institution is becoming deserted but in one year Professor Bugaje gave a robust life to Kaduna Polytechnic that accommodate thousands of students with a fat Internal Generated Revenue of billions Naira. The 2020 JAMB award to Kaduna Polytechnic on massive admission was a good evidence of Bugaje’s commitment of restructuring Kaduna Polytechnic to its best up to this time. Tetfund that suspended its grant to Kaduna Polytechnic before the appointment of Bugaje had done projects of Billions of Naira in Kaduna Polytechnic. The Railway Engineering Department, Chemical Engineering Department, Ongoing Mass Communication Department, Petrochemical Department, Sponsorship of projects, roads constructions, renovations of departments, renovation of offices, publications, sponsorship of studies of Kaduna Polytechnic staff and many ongoing projects are few testimony of Bugaje’s achievements in Kaduna Polytechnic.

The retraction of the false story carried by Royal News and other news agencies on accusation and false report on the fine personal character of Professor Bugaje has exposed a skeleton in a cupboard of who is trying to scuttle the progress of Kaduna Polytechnic. Royal News had apologized to Professor Idris Bugaje on what the faceless and unexisted Kadpoly Forum alleged and this has explained the intention of the doers to destroy what Kadpoly had gotten for century but now that the Acting Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic is facing charges of corruption with ICPC the truth will surely reveal itself in no time.

The only sin of Bugaje is calling spade a spade. They know professor Bugaje as the executive secretary of NBTE will not play into their hands hence resorting to campaign of calumny against him.

Let us go back to the memory lane or the genesis of the current crises that engulfed the institution. Professor Idris Bugaje on 14 April, 2021 was appointed the executive secretary of NBTE. In line with the polytechnic acts,Dr Umar Mohammed became the acting rector. After six months in acting capacity Dr Umar connived with the board members and pushed for additional six months. However, disturbed by the illegality, Professor Bugaje had to verbally drawn the attention of the acting rector not to be part of such gross abuse of polytechnic acts. The warning fell on his dumb ears. Bugaje had to write to the minister of education drawing his attention on the illegality citing federal polytechnic mubi and Auchi as case where the position of rector became vacant but resolved amicably without outright violation of extant polytechnic acts. Since the time he advised the acting rector to do what is right, Bugaje became his enemy who should be fight with every available arsenal at disposal.

However, as the Honourable Minister of Education charged Kaduna Polytechnic Council to look into the misconduct of the conducted rectorship interview on the case of Prof Muhammad Sani Yahaya more skeletons will be exhume to know the builder and the destroyer of Kaduna Polytechnic.

Meanwhile the recommendation of the Registrar of Kaduna Polytechnic to extend the tenure of the Acting Rector is a time bomb for Kaduna Polytechnic and if the Honorable Minister did not act on this matter it will means that the Acting Rector has an upper hand to break laws and get away with it.
