Khamenei to Trump: “Keep Dreaming” Over U.S. Claims of Destroying Iran’s Nuclear Sites
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei mocks Donald Trump’s claim that U.S. strikes “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling the remarks “improper, wrong, and bullying.”
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has dismissed recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who claimed that American airstrikes in June had destroyed Iran’s nuclear facilities.
In a statement published on his official website on Monday, Khamenei rebuked Trump’s comments, saying the U.S. leader should “keep dreaming.” He also questioned Washington’s authority to dictate terms to other nations about nuclear technology.
“Who is he to say what a country should or should not have if it possesses a nuclear industry?” Khamenei said.
In mid-June, Israel launched an unprecedented bombing campaign targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites, with the United States briefly joining the strikes.
During a recent speech at the Israeli Knesset, Trump claimed that the U.S. military had “obliterated” Iran’s key nuclear facilities.
“We dropped 14 bombs on Iran’s key nuclear facilities — totally, as I said originally, obliterating them — and that’s been confirmed,” Trump said.
Speaking later on Fox News, Trump described the strikes as “the most beautiful military operation” and said Iran “no longer became the bully of the Middle East.”
However, the actual impact of the strikes remains unclear. The Pentagon has since stated that the attacks likely delayed Iran’s nuclear programme by one to two years, though earlier U.S. intelligence assessments reportedly indicated a setback of only a few months.
Khamenei condemned Trump’s comments as “improper, wrong, and bullying,” accusing the U.S. of spreading misinformation.
The June conflict with Israel erupted just days before a planned sixth round of nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington. Those talks have since collapsed, with Iran insisting it will only resume discussions if the U.S. guarantees no further military action.
