Elders and stakeholder caucus of the All Progressives Congress in Irepodun South Local Council Development Authority, Erin Osun, Osun State, on Sunday, declared support for Muniru Bamidele as the consensus candidate for the October 15 Osun local government election.

The position of the group was contained in a statement signed by 22 leaders of the party, including the Ward Chairman, Mudasiru Anisere, obtained in Osogbo.

The group also rejected move by the incumbent Chairman, Adekunle Oloyede, to seek another term in office, insisting that Bamidele was selected as the consensus candidate for the poll.

The statement read in part, “Consequently, Mr Bamidele was chosen among the 10 aspirants as the party’s candidate in the forthcoming local government election. At the completion of the nomination process, Mr Bamidele was advised to obtain the Expression of Interest and Nomination Form.

“Thereafter, news started flying around the community that the incumbent Caretaker Chairman, (Adekunle Oloyede), who never showed any interest and did not present himself for screening organised by the party leadership in his Local Government Area, that he is the governor’s anointed candidate.

“We affirm that the nomination of Mr Bamidele still subsists and remains unchangeable.”
