Misplaced Priority of IBB’s Book Lunch in the Face of Nigeria’s Pressing Challenges -By Yasir Shehu Adam
It is time for our leaders to shift their focus from ceremonial events to the pressing issues that affect the lives of millions. While history is important, the challenges of today demand immediate and effective action. The attention given to the book launch could have been better spent on initiatives that secure our borders, protect our citizens, and stimulate economic growth.
The grand launch of former military President IBB’s memoir has captured significant attention from top leaders and the media alike. However, this event appears to be a misplaced priority at a time when Nigeria is facing critical issues such as insecurity, economic instability, and food scarcity.
While the memoir recounts historical narratives, it would have been far more valuable if it had focused on practical solutions for today’s challenges. As a former military president, IBB had a unique perspective on national security. His book should have emphasized strategies to enhance the safety and stability of our nation—guidance that could help steer the country in turbulent times.
In contrast, President Bola Tinubu has demonstrated exemplary leadership over the past two to three months. His proactive approach to food security has led to a significant drop in food prices, providing much-needed relief for everyday Nigerians. This remarkable achievement is a testament to what focused, practical governance can accomplish. President Tinubu’s efforts should serve as a model for addressing not only food security but also for improving overall national security and stabilizing the economy.
Nigeria needs leadership that prioritizes real-world solutions. Let us build on President Tinubu’s achievements and work collectively towards a safer, more prosperous future for all Nigerians.
