Nepotism -By Hassan Mariam

Nigeria has lost generation of talented young people. With limited opportunities, many have left and more are still leaving the country in search of a better future. But what does this mean for the future of Nigeria, and is there any hope for those left behind?” Does this take the story in a more thought-provoking direction? This is all because of the highly practice nepotism in Nigeria, a country where if you do not have godfather, godmother or stronger connections you will be left with no job and means of survival, this is sad.

Let’s talk about the issue of nepotism, which is a major factor in the lack of employment opportunities for graduates in Nigeria. Nepotism is the practice of giving preferential treatment to relatives or friends, rather than hiring based on merit.

This can lead to unqualified individuals getting jobs, while those with the necessary skills and qualifications are left unemployed.
As a graduate in Nigeria the hope of finding a decent job are drastically fading in to a tin air, despite having all the required qualifications, it seems like nepotism and political connections are more important than Education qualifications in Nigeria job market. As days passes by, unemployment rate continues to rise higher, many less privilege graduates are feeling left behind.

The lack of unemployment is having a greater risk on the lives of the young graduates, fueling a growing sense of frustration, depression, anxiety and disillusionment. Many unlucky ones end up wasting and uslessing their youthful ages on unproductive activities, so do many become a nuisance to the country.

I have come to realise that a lot of great God gifted talents and knowledges have been wasted or probably appreciated by some lucky foreign individuals to develop their own countries.

This unemployment crisis in Nigeria is leading to a greater future damage if solutions are not provided
The unemployment crisis is affecting young people on a personal level. Many young people feel trapped, unable to move forward with their lives. This can lead to a loss of hope and motivation, as well as mental health issues. In some cases, it can even lead to crime and violence.

The social impact of the unemployment crisis is huge, and it’s only getting worse. And we wonder why there’s so much insecurity problems in our country, that is what happen when nepotism has crashed down so many talents and ambitions leaving the country with frustrated and depressed youth all over the street. Our great past leaders did not go through so much struggles for us to have independence to be a slave to our fellow Nigerian citizens. Say NO to NEPOTISM and save our youth the leaders of tomorrow
