Nigeria Loses N2.5 Trillion to Maritime Logistics Gaps — Truck Transit Parks
Truck Transit Parks (TTP) says Nigeria has lost over N2.5 trillion to maritime logistics inefficiencies, urging investment in infrastructure and digital tools like the Ètò App to boost port efficiency.
Truck Transit Parks (TTP), operators of the Electronic Call-Up System (Ètò), have disclosed that inefficiencies in Nigeria’s maritime transport logistics have cost the nation over N2.5 trillion.
The company stressed that increased investment in transport infrastructure and digital technology is crucial to unlocking the full trade potential of Nigeria’s seaports, highways, and regional trade corridors.
Speaking at the 2025 Transportation Correspondents Association annual conference, TTP’s Managing Director, Mr. Jama Onwubuariri, called for stronger collaboration between government, the private sector, and regional bodies to achieve a more efficient logistics system.
Onwubuariri highlighted how the deployment of digital solutions such as TTP’s Ètò App has transformed traffic management at Lagos ports.
He recalled the peak of the gridlock crisis when trucks stretched from Cele Expressway to Maryland in Ikeja, creating endless queues into Apapa and Tin-Can ports.
“Cost surged due to inefficiencies and extortion as transporters could not work efficiently, with only 50 trucks evacuated daily from one terminal operator,” he said.
