Obiano Sacks All Political Appointees

It would be recalled that the incumbent Governor Willie Obiano will, on Thursday this week, handover mantle of leadership to the Governor-elect, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, following the conclusion of his two tenures of four years each.

The outgoing Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano has sacked all his political appointees, ahead of the March 17 handover in the state.

This was contained in a memo signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwuelobe, and addressed to all political appointees in the state, notifying them of their disengagements and termination of their appointments.

Dated March 4, 2022, the letter also mandated the political appointees to handover all government property in their possessions to the most senior civil servants in their offices on or before Wednesday, March 16.

The letter, captioned “Cessation of Appointments of All Political Appointees” reads in parts: “This is to notify ALL Political Appointees that the life of the present Administration will end on Wednesday 16th March, 2022.

Consequently, ALL Appointees are informed that their appointments ill terminate on the above stated date.

“You are therefore advised to handover ALL GOvernnment properties in your possession to the most senior CVil Servant in your office, and the Officer should acknowledge the receipt as appropriate.

“For appointees whose appointments are tenured (like: Managing Directors/CEO, Executive secretaries and Provosts) but nonetheless serve at the instance of the Governor of the day are not affected by this circular.

“The incoming Governor will issue further directive on your appointments.

“While thanking you for your services, we wish you best of luck in your future endeavors.”
