The Ohanaeze Ndigbo community in Lagos State has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence in his victory and leadership.

Speaking in Lagos on Monday during a reconciliation parley organized by Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor) of the Lagos4Lagos Movement to engage Igbo leaders over recent demolitions in the state, Chief Sunday Udeh, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, said Tinubu deserves another term.

“We are not in doubt of his victory in 2027. We know our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), will win. President Tinubu is a man who knows the game,” Udeh said.

He called for peace and mutual respect between the Yoruba and Igbo communities, emphasizing the importance of avoiding division and hostility.

“Yorubas and Igbos must coexist peacefully. We need to avoid animosity and bitterness,” he said.

Udeh also urged the Lagos State Government to continue giving Ndigbo and other ethnic groups a sense of belonging, noting that relations between the Igbos and the government had been strained since the 2023 elections.

“2027 is close. We know our party will take it. I am a member and will work for the party,” he added.

Deacon Charles Obih, National President of the Market Leaders Association of Nigeria (TMLAN), echoed Udeh’s position, pledging the Igbo community’s commitment to Tinubu’s re-election.

“We will move around to ensure the re-election of President Tinubu is seamless by the grace of God. If God had not brought a man like him, we don’t know where the country would be today,” Obih said.

Also speaking, Dr. Okey Anorue, Eze Ndigbo of Igbogbo/Bayeku and Babaloja of Tejuosho Market, urged both Igbos and Yorubas to strengthen their bond ahead of the elections to prevent political divisions.

“We need a peaceful environment. They are our hosts, and we must respect their culture. When in Rome, behave like the Romans,” Anorue advised.

Chief Amaka Chibuzor, Ndigbo Women Leader in Coker Aguda, also declared support for Tinubu’s 2027 bid, describing the APC as “the strongest party” and urging Igbos to join “the winning team.”

Chief Ebere Odikonaba, former APC Woman Leader for Oshodi-Isolo, reinforced this stance, stating that the Igbos in Lagos “have no other party than the APC.”

Similarly, Mrs. Uju Ofohre, an APC women leader from Ejigbo LCDA, called on Igbo women to reciprocate the goodwill of the Yorubas through political support.

“The Yorubas have shown us love. We must return that love by supporting the APC and coming out en masse in 2027,” she said, adding that Igbo women should also back the APC’s governorship candidate in Lagos State.
