Open Letter To Hassan Omoyale: An Aspirant for the Post of Chairman Ilorin West -By Issa Ahmad Damilare

It’s my pleasure to address you through writing this piece of write up – Hassan Omoyale, as an aspirant for the post of Chairman, Ilorin West Local Government Council, under the umbrella of All Progressive Congress (APC). The main essence of writing this letter to you is to advise you on two things, which I believe that, if you follow it, you will not regret aspiring for this particular post.

The first advice is based on how you can be a winner in this upcoming chairmanship election, that is, how to be a victorious man among your fellow aspirants and the second advice is to let you know the path you can follow in order to be successful throughout your administration.

The Scholars around the globe have given different definition to what leadership is, and what it takes to be a good leader in the society, the path to follow as an aspiring leader; the qualities we must see in a good leader for him/her to be qualified as a good leader.

According to Aristotle, he said and I quote:

”He who has never learned to obey cannot be a good leader and he who cannot be a good follower cannot be a good leader.”

From this quote, it is well understood that, before you can become a leader, you need to have leadership skills and qualities which the people can emulate and follow without any trepidation or doubt. Therefore, to lead the people to the right path and to lead by example; you need to walk behind them – ‘your followers’ in order to let them feel secured.

The bitter truth is that the leader of a particular community is the servant of the people he/she is serving. It’s however, very imperative to let you know the good qualities of leaders which I will actually explain, in this piece of write up.

The first quality that must be seen in you for you to be qualified as a good leader is submissiveness and meek, an aspiring leader should be submissive to his followers and to seek their advice before making any decision. They are the ones who will elect you to be in that position and you must be humble and submissive before the election and after your emergence as the Chairman, Ilorin West Local Government.

You can achieve your aims and objectives, only, if you have been doing goods to your neighbor before, they will be the ones to help you canvass people for you to win an election. Being humble shouldn’t be restricted only before an election but should be your attribution before and after the election, and that’s the only way you can become a victorious man among your fellow aspirants and this will make you succeed in your administration.

You are like an army of sheep, led by a lion, which could possibly conquer an army of lions led by ship, your patriotism to the state can heartily lead to your victory in the upcoming election. Be diligent by devoting your precious time to find something that will be of great benefit to your state and local government and the people of this local government.

If you have good intention, to be honest, patriotic to your country and the people, and you are not deceiving them with your sugar-coated mouth for them to vote for you, but what you have is good intention to refine your community, this could make you win the race with the support of Almighty Allah and through fervent prayer. I hope with all this advice, you will surely emerge as the winner in this upcoming election.

Lastly, The main essence of electing you as a leader is to do the will of the people, try your best to carry people along in all your activities and make sure you have free mind from embezzling the public funds which will lead to a bad consequence on you and your administration if care is not taken.
