The Police Service Commission has renamed its Chairman’s Hall as Solomon Arase Hall in honour of the late ex-IGP and PSC Chairman. Tributes and burial rites hold in Abuja and Benin, with final interment on October 3, 2025.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has renamed its Chairman’s Conference Hall, located on the sixth floor of its corporate headquarters, as Solomon Arase Hall, in honour of its late Chairman and former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Solomon Arase.
The development was announced on Thursday by the PSC spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, who also disclosed that a strong delegation from the Commission will attend the final burial rites in Edo State.
At a day of tributes in Abuja, PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), described Arase as not only a distinguished police officer but also a reformer, scholar, and gentleman of courage and intellect. He was represented at the event by the Director of Human Resource Management, Aminu Malumfashi.
The funeral programme for the late PSC Chairman began on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, with a day of tributes held at the Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja. A requiem mass is scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama, Abuja, followed by a lying-in-state at his Maitama residence on Saturday.
His remains will then be flown to Benin, Edo State, for the continuation of the burial rites. The final interment is set for Friday, October 3, 2025, at his Benin residence.
