We hereby say congratulations to all Nigerian Women both at home and in diaspora and kudos to representatives on this giant strides, believing that all that start well will definitely end well.
Congratulation to the Women and Kudos to Representatives
Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, a presidential candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) during the 2019 general elections, congratulates the Nigerian
Women and House of representatives today, the International Women’s Day on the Constitution amendment; as Reps rescind decision on rejection of 3 Gender Bills.
Passionate about the transformation, development, progress and unity of Nigeria, Adesanya-Davies, the chairperson of Princess Mercy Ade-Davies Foundation, has declared her intention to contest the 2023 presidential election under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). We wants everything to move on with Nigerian women.
She is very happy and excited as, ”Nigeria’s house of representatives today, Tuesday, on the International Women’s Day rescinded it’s decision to reject three women-related bills during voting on the amendments of the 1999 Constitution.
We learnt, “The speaker of the House of representatives femi Gbajabiamila shortly after the House resumed plenary announced the decision to reconsider the bills on indingeneship, citizenship and 35 percent Affirmative Action for women in party administration.
A motion was immediately presented on the floor stating the lawmakers decision to rescind it’s decision and reconsider the 3 bills in the second batch of the Constitution amendment process coming up in few weeks.
The decision of the house is as a result of public backlash and protest by thousands of women who on a daily basis storm the National Assembly since the process last week, lamenting rejection of women-related bills.”
Abdul Seye of Daily Posts reports that, “The House of Representatives has bowed to pressure from Nigerian women on some of the constitutional amendment bills on gender.
Women groups have laid siege on the National Assembly, demanding it to rescind its decision on the five bills rejected during the voting on Constitution amendment bills.
The House on Monday resolved to change its stance after a motion moved by Hassan Fulata, the Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business.
The bill to expand the scope of citizenship, criteria for indigenship and 35% affirmative action in political parties administration will now be revisited by the lawmakers. The three bills will now be voted on by the House in a yet to be determined day.
We hereby say congratulations to all Nigerian Women both at home and in diaspora and kudos to representatives on this giant strides, believing that all that start well will definitely end well.
Thank you again and again House!
