That new cultural renaissance in Kogi… -By Abdullahi O. Haruna

A passive onlooker would take that historical royal homage to the palace of the custodian of the Igala civilisation as an ordinary visit but keen observers like us saw that occurrence as a potent rejuvenation of values – virtues that have depreciated from our civilisations in recent times. That visit echoes one thing; the rebirth of values in our traditional orientations.

A new culture of political leadership is brewing in Kogi state, at the forefront of this renaissance is the Governor Yahaya Bello- a new generation of political orientation laced with domesticated insight is being ingrained in the crops of leaders in the state. This trend if sustained , could be the catalyst for the ideal kind of leadership that is desired.

Recently, during the yuletide holidays to be precise, Edward Onoja, the deputy governor, led a delegation of electives and appointed political leaders from the Kogi East aisle of the state in royal homage to the traditional leaders in that region. An unprecedented reality never recorded in the state. First point of call, was the palace of the newly installed Attah Igala, HRM Mathew Opalauwa. Dressed in resplendent white agbada with a red busby cap with royal antenna was the deputy governor who like a carefully choreographed entourage had all the delegation adored the same white apparel. It was a beautiful aesthetic grotesque of political cum royal parade to behold!

The ingenuity of a leader is manifest in this kind of rarity, how did Edward Onoja conceive this idea, what magic did he use in assembling these leaders ingrained obviously with different interests to an agreeable parley as this?

Indeed this royal respect and cultural display by this set of GYB’s Kogi East leadership persons is a new vista in the Nigeria Political Space midwived by Cheif Edward David Onoja (CIK),Olimene Attah Igala and Kogi’s Deputy Governor. When you have class, coated in wits, you swim in creative leadership and this you have perfectly demonstrated with this unimagined outing! There is leadership in your DNA.

Join me from Monday next week as I take us through 7 lessons series drawn from Royal outing by the Kogi East political leadership under the headhunting depth of the man called Bello of Kogi State. Make it a date!
