The Causation of Peter Obi’s Demand as a Presidential Candidate -By Ajiboye Amos Olakunle
There’s a conviction that people have about Peter Obi and that is his alternative to APC and PDP and his difference amongst them. However, this has been an unprovable assertion since Peter Obi has always been an ally to the umbrella party.
The 2023 presidential race is presently the most anticipated exercise in the history of Nigeria, even INEC’s cart has never been that full.
Throughout the history of Nigeria, it has been a dream and mystery for an Igbo man to emerge as the president of the country, till date, it’s still unachievable. However, there has been several struggles to counter such challenge, but all proved abortive.
Peter Obi joined Nigeria politics in the early 2000s, emerged as the governor of Anambra state and ruled for 7 years. Obi has featured in several political parties like; APGA, PDP and LP. However, Obi has spent more time in PDP than other parties.
Nigeria has been in an extreme state of dilapidation since about 7 years, the whole nation has been eager to see a transfer of baton to cushion the drought in the land.
Earlier this year, around April, Nigerians were on suspense to see a list of 2023 presidential runners. Even though many already lost belief in Nigeria politics. More so, some people share the opinion that APC/PDP are of no difference.
Few days to the PDP primary election, Peter Obi left the party for a party that would dash him the presidential ticket without an issue.

Some have likened the situation to that of 2015 when Buhari was pictured as a military man to deal with all abnormalities in the country. Unfortunately, it’s still a work in progress or an impossibility.
Prior to the presidential primary elections this year, a lot were in the support of zoning the presidency to the south where it’ll be totally fair to allow an Igbo person to have a feel of the mantle for the first time. The Igbos stood strong to see a candidate of their lineage, luckily, Peter Obi found his way around the Labour Party. As time went on, some other tribes were ‘convinced’ of the possibility of Peter Obi’s positivity.
Fortunately for Peter Obi, the Igbos are gifted in cash even if not gifted in population. A lot of politicians are still unsure of how Peter Obi would emerge through such party as Labour Party.
However, the question left unanswered is how different is Peter Obi?
