INDENTIFYING THE ANTICHRIST

When Roman Catholics tell you that the Roman Catholic Church was the first church, please don’t just dismiss their claim. They may not be 100% accurate because the first church in the Christian dispensation comprised the 120 believers that experienced Pentecost and they were in Jerusalem — not Rome – neither did they ever refer to themselves as Roman Catholics. But, to a large extent, the Church in Rome became quite influential in those early days of Christianity. No wonder because Rome was the seat of the reigning empire at the time and the Emperor of Rome was the de facto king of the whole world. That meant anything in Rome received the prestige of the Roman Empire – whether school, or church, or military establishment. Just like an engineering degree from an American university today may be more prestigious than an engineering degree from a university in Mali or Somalia. So, as a matter of historical fact, the preeminent position of the Roman Catholic Church as one of the oldest visible churches may be hard to controvert. According to reliable sources, the Roman Catholic Church is the oldest institution is the western world and it can trace its history back almost 2000 years. In fact, there was a time when the pope of the Roman Catholic Church was the de facto ruler of the Roman Empire, earning him the title of Pontifex Maximus — the same title the Roman Emperors used to have. This is why journalists sometimes refer to the pope as the Roman Pontiff. It is his title as Pontifex Maximus they are referring to. But we are not talking about all of these indisputable facts.

What we are concerned about now is the issue of the prophetic place of the Roman Catholic Church. For those who may not know, I dare say that, if you do not know the power of the Roman Catholic Church, you do not know anything. And, except you understand the role of the RCC, you can never understand end time prophecy. If they read their Bibles, Roman Catholics would not be content in the thought that their church was the first church. They would notice that Apostle Paul, who was imprisoned in Rome and who even died in Rome, prophesied that, before Jesus Christ returns, there would come a falling away first; 2 Thessalonians 2:3. According to this prophecy, the truth of Christianity will be so compromised (by this falling away) it would result in the rise of the “man of sin” aka “the son of perdition”. So being the first church is no guarantee of being in the truth. In fact, the longer a church lasts, the more susceptible it is to falling away from the truth. So, rather than celebrate the antiquity of the RCC, the burden is to be sure that you are not a victim of the falling away prophesied in the Bible. Every Christian must make sure that they are not drinking from the faucet of a fallen church because any truth that is compromised becomes a lie and would lead to damnation. This is why doctrines are important and the same reason why Satan has deceived many people to actually be proudly saying that “doctrines do not matter,” thereby turning biblical logic upside-down. Beware of popular clichés such as this one because some are concocted by Satan to brainwash people. But what is the opinion of the Bible concerning doctrines, which is just a fancy word for beliefs or teachings, or concepts?

1 Timothy 4:16

“Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine, continue in them.”

Why?

1 Timothy 4:16

“For in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.”

This means that doctrines have eternal consequences – for evil or for good.

There is no need to be defensive about the fall in Christianity but to ensure that we are not under the power of any false doctrine, which is the natural consequence of this prophesied fall in Christianity. The nation of Israel was set up by God Himself. Yet Israel experienced such apostasy they began to practice all the abominations of the heathen nations around them, including the abomination of burning incense to the queen of heaven. Like Israel of old, there are Roman Catholics today who believe that the queen of heaven is Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ. But by virtue of the fact that the Israelites were worshipping the queen of heaven long before Mary’s great-great-grandmother was even conceived, it is clear that there is more to this queen of heaven than meets the eye. And there is no need for guessing because God categorically denounced the practice of burning incense to the queen of heaven as idolatry, proving that the queen of heaven is of Satan and has nothing to do with Mary or Jesus Christ, or God. Notice what God said about this queen of heaven as far back as the time of Prophet Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 7:18

“The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.”

The above statement in the Bible was made several centuries before Mary was born and God said the queen of heaven is a god. In other words, “queen of heaven” is the nickname of a fallen angel (also known in the Bible as demon) or Satan himself who seeks worship from human beings and deceives them in various ways to give him worship thinking they are worshipping the true God. Note that the practice of burning incense to the queen of heaven was provocative to God. How can this have anything to do with Mary the mother of Jesus Christ, as many sincere Catholics have been made to believe?

But it is not just the Roman Catholic that needs to ensure that he is not under the power of false doctrines. Everybody needs to take heed because, as the Bible says, “a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump” 1 Corinthians 5:6. In other words, no matter how small the false doctrine in one’s theology, it is sufficient to lead them astray and away from the path to life. And, as they say, the devil is in the details. So the details of what you believe is important. Do not let anyone fool you over this. As far as Christianity and the Bible are concerned, getting any fact wrong could prove eternally harmful. For example, an educated Muslim will tell you that he believes in Jesus. But the Jesus he believes in is slightly different from yours. The Jesus in Islam is a holy prophet, but not the Son of God. And if you think the details of doctrines are not important, note that this seemingly “slight” difference about the status of Jesus was sufficient to result in two separate religions, namely Christianity and Islam. So do not let Satan cause you to think approximation is an option in the things of God. The truth of God is specific and categorical; anything different is compromise and must be from the enemy, who does everything to muddle the truth, knowing that God does not change and would not accept anything less than what He has revealed. For you to deceive, you have to be as close to the real thing as possible: you have to be approximately like the real thing. So beware of doctrines that are approximations. If it is not in the Bible, it is most probably not as harmless as you think and could actually be from the enemy.

It takes love to tell a person an unpalatable truth and the unpalatable truth will be told in love through this piece, even though some may not understand and may even misinterpret the motivation behind this. But let God judge.

Jesus Christ described Satan as a liar and the Bible credits him with the ability to deceive the whole world; Revelation 12:9. It is by lying that Satan deceives. But, to deceive, you have to know enough of the facts so as to make the victim believe that you are telling them the truth, even while lying to them. If you want to mislead a person seeking direction to Ibadan from Lagos, how can you be sure you have deceived the person if you do not really know the direction to Ibadan? If you really do not know the direction and just guess, you may guess and direct the person to the right place. So, for you to be sure of your deception, you must know that the correct direction to Ibadan is east of Lagos, or west of Lagos, or north of Lagos, or south of Lagos. Only then can you ensure that, if Ibadan is north of Lagos, you make the person go south. It is because you know the real direction to Ibadan from Lagos that you are able to successfully deceive the motorist seeking direction. In this hypothesis, note that, if the motorist tells you that some people had said that Ibadan was north of Lagos, you, the deceiver, must denounce these people and say their information is inaccurate and even malicious. You will probably initiate a lengthy explanation about a new road, or a short cut, or something like that and make the motorist feel you are really trying to help them. So a deceiver has two characteristics: he has knowledge – correct knowledge – and also uses lies. Without knowledge, a deceiver cannot deceive, and without lying, a deceiver is also unable to deceive because, using our example above, if the deceiver tells the motorist the truth, he must tell the motorist the actual direction to Ibadan. It is only by deliberately lying that he can deceive the motorist. But he must make it sound like the truth so that the motorist will ignore any doubts and follow the wrong direction. You need to be aware that Satan is the classic deceiver. You need to be aware that he understands the truth better than you and understands human weaknesses. By blending enough of the truth he knows with some lies targeted at accommodating your inherent weaknesses, he gets you nodding while leading you to hell. That is the way Satan succeeds in deceiving the whole world, including the sincere, the dedicated, the committed, the serious, the educated, the experienced, the religious, and even the very religious. For this reason, you need to try to understand the Bible like your life depends on it because it does. The Bible is the only document God has given to humanity to enable serious souls counteract the schemes of Satan. Therefore, anybody – or any church – that stands against the Bible is working in collaboration with Satan. Period.

In the Book of Revelation, a voice from heaven referred to Satan as “the accuser of our brethren.” See 12:10. But because he is a liar, it goes without saying that his accusations must be false. So he is a false accuser. Again, Jesus Christ referred to Satan as a murderer.

Do you remember (in Part 1) that we stated that the Antichrist is a Christian power?

2 Thessalonians 2:4

“He as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

The Antichrist has a temple (church) and reigns as God from that institution.

Please Note: If you are Christian, only a Christian leader can deceive you because you typically do not believe anything Muslim leaders or Buddhist leaders say, unless that thing happens to agree with what your Christian leaders have already said in the past. This point is critical so you don’t go looking for the Antichrist outside Christendom. The Antichrist is a Christian power. And, from Matthew 24:24, we know that the Antichrist will almost succeed in deceiving the very elect.

In fact, the religion of the Antichrist will be so similar to Christianity the Bible provides only two points to differentiate between the Antichrist and Jesus Christ. This means that the doctrine of the Antichrist will not deny a lot of things in the Bible. But there are two doctrines that will expose the Antichrist. And God, in His infinite wisdom, pointed them out in the Bible. Incidentally, they are all in the Epistles of John. If I were you, I would not rest until I understand these two doctrines so as to ensure that I am following Jesus Christ, and not the Antichrist. We would look at this issue later.

If the Antichrist (directly sponsored by Satan) were to set up a church and reign through that church, what would the church be noted for? Remember, Satan moves from lies (deception) to false accusation, and then to murder.

1.     A church set up by the Antichrist will teach false doctrines. Why? Because Satan is a liar. But, to try to deceive the saints, he must use false doctrines. These are doctrines that appear to be from the Bible but are from Satan himself. They can be explained using the Bible but they are against the Bible itself. There are several of these false doctrines and we have been looking at some of them in this series. What else would a church set up by Satan do?

2.     That church will accuse those who truly believe the Bible as heretics. A heretic is a person who believes a false doctrine. But remember that Satan is a liar and, to carry on his nefarious activity, he calls evil good and good evil; Isaiah 5:20. Remember that Jesus Christ was innocent and Barabbas was guilty. But what did the Jews (under the influence of Satan) do? They declared Jesus Christ guilty and declared Barabbas innocent and demanded that Barabbas be set free and Jesus Christ be crucified. This is the classic playbook of Satan. The church of the Antichrist must do the same in order to survive and thrive.

3.     Lastly, if you have not forgotten that Jesus Christ described Satan as a murderer, you will understand that the church of the Antichrist must be guilty of murder. After concocting false doctrines, those that choose to continue to believe the truth of the Bible and reject those false doctrines must be labelled as heretics. They must be accused as the ones teaching false doctrines. Then, if they refuse to recant (that is, change their minds and accept the false doctrines) they will be persecuted and eventually killed. To frighten others, their deaths will be made as painful and horrific as possible — either through burning at the stake, or being fed to wild animals in a public square, or something equally gruesome and meant to shock the senses.

Before proceeding, please understand that, in the last days, there are three entities that will stand against the people of God. There is the dragon (Satan) there is the false prophet, and then there is the beast; Revelation 16:13. But when you gather all the facts, you will see that the beast is the same as the Antichrist. So whenever we mention the beast or the Antichrist, note that we are referring to the same person/institution. In Daniel Chapter 2, Daniel referred to king Nebuchadnezzar as the head of gold. But the head of gold also referred to the kingdom of Babylon, which had other kings. So also with the Antichrist. The Antichrist is both an institution and the person heading that institution at any given time. The seat of the Antichrist has been occupied by different people – but it can also refer to the living representative of that institution at any point in history.

The everlasting gospel of the last days is not “any other gospel”.

Galatians 1:8

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”

The everlasting gospel of the last days is the same old gospel of the Bible. The only “new” thing in that gospel is the announcement of the beginning of the judgment. This was hidden from the church by a deliberate command of God to Daniel (Daniel 8:26; 12:4) even though the prophecy about the date this judgment will begin was clearly given — in Daniel 8:14. Through His divine power, God made it impossible for any human being to read and correctly understand what Daniel 8:14 meant — until Daniel 8:14 was fulfilled. Why? Because, as you would see in Revelation 14:6-11, where the three angels’ messages are stated, the first part of the first angel’s message declares that something had started. What had started? The judgment. How did the Bible state that? It says “the hour of His judgment is come.” This first angel’s message would have been false and illegal if preached before 22nd October, 1844. And so Daniel 8:14 (which leads to the understanding of those three messages) had to be sealed until after the judgment actually began so that, by the time the people of God had passed through the sweet-bitter experience which unlocks Daniel 8:14 (the sweet-bitter experience prophesied in Revelation 10) the judgment would have begun and the preaching of the message and the declaration that “the hour of His judgment is come” would be accurate. These messages were not only referred to as the “everlasting gospel” but were said to go to the whole world.

Revelation 14:6

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.”

The first angel’s message is in verse 7, the second is in verse 8, and the third is from verse 9 to 11, with verse 12 sending an encouragement to the saints of God.

Rightly understood, apart from the announcement of the beginning of the judgment in heaven (that is the beginning of the real Day of Atonement) the three angels’ messages are simply an effort to restore true Christian doctrines, which had been corrupted by the Antichrist , also known as the “little horn”. Just like the Bible has nicknames for Jesus Christ (Lion of the tribe of Judah, Lamb of God, Root and Offspring of David, Bright and Morning Star, etc.) the Bible also refers to the Antichrist as the beast, the little horn, the son of perdition, the man of sin, etc. What you do to decode who the Bible is referring to is to focus on the known characteristics. Never forget that the “man of sin” aka “beast”, aka “son of perdition” aka “Antichrist” is a Christian power. The prophecy about its rise was addressed to Christians and what was going to enable its rise was “a falling away.” It was not a falling away of Islam or of Confucianism, or of Hinduism; it was the falling away of Christianity that would result in the rise of the man of sin. So it is definitely a Christian power and a church – a fallen church. Fallen because of false doctrines. However you look at it, the doctrines of the Antichrist will resemble Christian doctrines than anything else. Although the worst enemy of Christianity, it will be part of Christendom.

So, the existence of the man of sin or son of perdition demanded false doctrines. And the three angels’ messages were planned by God to expose these false doctrines and also arm last day Christians with the truth so they would not inadvertently worship the Antichrist and be forever lost. Those Christians who lived in the days of ignorance were ignorant and God would wink at true ignorance; Acts 17:30. But because last day Christians will worship the beast if they do not understand the truth about these things, it was necessary for God to instigate a movement that would break Christians away from the false doctrines of the Antichrist, which had been corrupted over many centuries, so as to stand spotless before the second coming of Jesus Christ and be able to defeat, not just some, but all these deceptions, which will be so well packaged the elect will nearly be deceived. The reason why they would not be deceived is because of the possession of the knowledge of the three angels’ message. Without these messages, every single individual in the world – including well-meaning children of God and even the elect – will worship the Antichrist.

What doctrines were specifically tampered with in Christianity to enable the rise of the Antichrist and sustain its institution?

Before answering that question, let’s see what else the Bible says about this power that may help us understand the matter better.

How long will the beast power last?

Daniel 7:25

“And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.”

According to Daniel 7:25, the beast power would last for 1260 years, prophesied as a time, times, and the dividing of time.

Will the beast persecute Christians?

According to the same Daniel 7:25, the beast shall “wear out” the saints and “they shall be given into his hands.” Yes, the beast power sorely persecuted the saints and this is well documented in church history.

What else will the beast do?

According to that same Daniel 7:25, the beast power would think to change times and laws. The Bible (in James 4:12) declares that there is only one lawgiver and nobody needs to ask Who we are referring to here. The only lawgiver is God, the Father of Jesus Christ. But the beast will tamper with the laws (commandments) of God.

Where will the beast come from?

Based on the fact that the fourth beast of Daniel 7 unmistakably points to Rome and the Roman Empire, and the ten horns represent the ten kingdoms into which the old Roman Empire disintegrated into, and the “little horn” came from the midst of these ten horns, the beast power that wars with the people of God in the last days must come from Rome.

Daniel 7:24

“And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.” See verse 8 and verse 20 for proof that this horn that was diverse was the “little horn” which persecuted the saints and reigned for 1260 years. It is the same beast of the last days that wars against the people of God. If you know, from world history, that the Roman Empire reigned after the Greek Empire, you should have no problem understanding this.

What unique geographical landform does the Bible provide for identifying the headquarters of the beast?

Revelation 17:9

“And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.”

The headquarters of the beast power is a city which has seven mountains.

But note that prophecy referred to this power as a woman. This is the way the Bible refers to a church. Even the true church of Jesus Christ is called His bride – a woman. But the depiction of the woman makes clear whether she is faithful or fallen.

Of the bride of Christ, she is said to be a “chaste virgin.” See 2 Corinthians 11:2.

But of this fallen church, where the beast (aka Antichrist) reigns, it is said to be a harlot woman.

Revelation 17:3-6. [3]So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

[4]And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: [5]And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. [6]And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

Notice the reference to the murder of the saints by this woman. Indeed, this power, when we finally identify it, must be guilty of murdering the people of God. The Bible said it murdered so many of them it became “drunken” with their blood.

Why is the beast also referred to as the “little horn”?

The beast power is referred to as a “little horn” because it reigns from a relatively little geographical location. But note that this is in sharp contrast to the power it wields. If you recall the word “blasphemy” in connection with the description of the beast as a church – as given in Revelation 17:3-6 quoted above — note how powerful this beast is, as stated in Revelation 13:1-4. It is a global power and it works under the direct sponsorship of Satan and every worship given to the beast is given to Satan.

Revelation 13:4

“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Will the beast power be revived after its deadly wound?

If you have not already decoded that the beast power is the Roman Catholic Church, there are two possible reasons: firstly, you do not know church history, which is a very important part of European history. Secondly, you are refusing to accept the reality of the coincidence of prophecy and history, which proves that the Roman Catholic Church is the beast of Revelation 13.

For those still unsure, here are additional brief facts about the Roman Catholic Church that unmistakably identifies it as the “little horn” of Daniel 7 and the beast of Revelation 13, and the harlot woman of Revelation 17.

The Roman Catholic Church obviously came from the geographical location of the old Roman Empire, which is the fourth beast of Daniel 7. Even the name of the church – Roman Catholic — makes this abundantly clear.

Rome, the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, was known in history as the “city on seven hills.” This identification is based on Revelation 17:9. And Rome seats on seven mountains. Please confirm this on the internet. It is public knowledge.

The Roman Catholic Church tampered with the commandments of God (the Ten Commandments) by neutralizing the second commandment which forbids image worship and changing the Sabbath commandment which commands the keeping of Saturday, the seventh day of the week, in order to honour Sunday, the first day of the week. Please do not argue about this because the Roman Catholic Church does not deny this. If you argue about this, you will eventually be embarrassed to see quotations from senior Catholic Church leaders actually pointing to this change of the Sabbath as evidence of the power of the church. After neutralizing the second commandment, the RCC was stuck with nine instead of Ten Commandments. To make up the number, the tenth commandment in the Bible (which forbids covetousness) was divided into two. In the Bible, there is only one commandment forbidden covetousness – the tenth. It begins by saying you shall not covet your neighbour’s house and then mentions your neighbour’s wife, his manservant, his woman servant, or any of his properties. But, to conceal the fraud of tampering with the holy commandments of God, the Roman Catholic Church dared to break the tenth commandment into two. In the Catechism Booklet of the RCC, the ninth commandment is about covetousness and the tenth is also about covetousness. If this does not sound like the fulfilment of Daniel 7:25 to you, perhaps your case has become like the unfortunate case of the people referred to in 2 Corinthians 4:3.

While in power, the Roman Catholic Church murdered countless Christians and, in most instances, their deaths did not come nicely. Some were fed to hungry wild animals in the Roman coliseum, some were burnt alive, some were beaten to death, some were sent on exile, some were thrown off the cliff of rocks. Just read Foxe’s Book of Martyrs and your blood will turn cold at the things that happened under the reign of the popes, who were so powerful at the time they could depose incumbent kings. No need to talk about the power of the Roman Catholic Church or the persecution Christians suffered under the papacy. In this information age, it is quite easy to know these things. But suffice to state that the most popular pope in modern times, Pope John Paul II, provided valid evidence of these atrocities in his 1999 public apology. You can check it out for yourself.

Interestingly, prophecy talks about a deadly wound that was inflicted on the beast.

Revelation 13:3

“And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death.”

This event occurred in 1798 when the French General, Berthier, arrested the Pope and took him to France, where he died. Before then, the Pope had been reigning with access to an army as far back as AD538. Prophecy says its reign would be for 1260 years and the number of years from AD538 to AD1798 is exactly 1260 years.

Unfortunately, the same verse that prophesied the wounding of the papacy also prophesied its rise in the end time.

Revelation 13:3

“And his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.”

Officially, the “healing of the wound” of the Roman Catholic Church began in 1929, when Benito Mussolini signed a treaty with Pope Pius XI. The papacy recognized the State of Italy, with Rome as its capital. Italy, in turn, recognized papal sovereignty over Vatican City and secured total independence for the pope. But that little compound called Vatican City rules the world. You may or may not know it, but that is the fact. And this fact is based on the Bible. But not many people realize the enormous and global power of the RCC because most things are done in secret and through secret societies which protect their secrets with terrible oaths that punish any betrayal of trust in the most gruesome manner. Since 1929, the pope has been rising in prominence and is now the most respected leader in the world. As stated above, the Bible described this beast power – the papacy – as a little horn. Guess what? The smallest country in the world is Vatican City. It contains only 109 acres of space. But if you have ever heard of the saying, “small but mighty”, it finds perfect fulfilment in the size of Vatican City, with regard to its global influence. For your information, the main driver of global events is the Roman Catholic Church, and I will prove it with just one example.

For those who may not know, the foundation of the Paris Climate Agreement is the encyclical of Pope Francis, titled Laudato Si, which he published in 2015, before the Paris Climate Accord was signed in that same 2015. The implications of that Accord would soon be felt by every single individual in the world and the past three years were just a dress rehearsal. Traditionally, the United States of America is a Protestant nation. The Protestants were former Roman Catholics who rejected the unbiblical practices of the church and tried to practice Christianity based on whatever they understood from the Bible. The most notable Protestant in church history is Martin Luther, a former Catholic priest from Germany who was led to understand the errors of the Roman Catholic Church and take a stand, using the Bible as his rule book. Through the Protestant Reformation, many false doctrines of the RCC were rejected and it brought about freedom in Europe. The founding of the United States is directly linked to the Protestant reformation. These Protestants, most notably, rejected the pope as the head of the church and also the idea that one needed to confess their sins to a priest, instead of doing so directly to God, through the Lord Jesus Christ. When they considered church history and the aggressive opposition of the RCC to Bible truth, and the persecution they themselves were suffering from the church, it was an easy thing for them to realize that the pope was an Antichrist. And they publicly denounced him as such. There are many categorical statements by several Protestant fathers denouncing the pope as Antichrist and the fact that so-called Protestants today do not recognize the pope as Antichrist is a most amazing accomplishment of the Roman Catholic Church.

Protestants also rejected the idea that Mary was a mediator between human beings and Jesus Christ. There were several other doctrines they rejected. But they still held onto some doctrines of the Roman Church, not out of rebellion against God, but because they simply did not know better. One of such false doctrines they held in innocence was the doctrine of Sunday keeping. God knew they were keeping Sunday in error and that was clearly why, when Daniel 8:14 was unsealed and the attention of the church was drawn to the three angels’ messages, these Protestants, who were known as Adventists, quickly became Seventh-day Adventists and began to keep the Sabbath instead of keeping Sunday.

Why did they make that move?

Revelation 14:7

“Saying with a loud voice, Fear God and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”

It was ok for God to tell these people that the hour of His judgment had come. With Daniel 8:14 unsealed, this made perfect sense because the Day of Atonement was Day of Judgment in the Old Testament and the cleansing of the sanctuary mentioned in Daniel 8:14 took place yearly on the Day of Atonement. But why would God tell them to worship Him? Were they not worshipping Him? Or were they somehow worshipping Him wrongly? The clue was in the reason for the command to worship Him.

Revelation 14:7

“And worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”

This sounded like the fourth commandment in Exodus 20:8-11, especially verse 11.
