The Other Thing That God Cannot Do -By Joe Dauda

There lies the beauty and tragedy of being what theologians refer to as a free moral agent. Human beings are free moral agents. Created to love, God had to take this risk by giving us a free will because true love cannot be compelled. Whoever loves must also be free to hate. Every human being you see (yourself included) has the dangerous privilege of choosing to either love God or hate Him. The problem is that He will respect your choice.

The first thing that God cannot do is that He cannot lie.

Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie . . . hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

There are 3 main reasons why a man will make a statement that will later prove to be false. That’s apart from the fact that a man’s knowledge is limited and he can only say or promise or declare something based on what he knows or thinks he knows. Apart from such false statements based on incomplete knowledge, a man can make a statement that eventually cannot hold water either:

  1. Because he changed his mind
But God said “I’m the LORD, I change not.” Malachi 3:6.
  2. Because he is unable to do what he says he will do.
But God, on the other hand, can do anything He says He will do. When 89-year-old Sarai doubted the promise of God to regenerate her dead womb and give her a child at a time she will be 90 years old, He chided her by asking rhetorically, “Is anything too hard for the LORD?” Genesis 18:14.
  3. Because he dies or gets seriously ill.
But God never falls ill (He never sleeps nor slumbers) and He is immortal. 1 Timothy 6:16.

So God (unlike man) is not susceptible to lying and cannot lie because He can do anything He says He can do, He cannot die, and He does not change.

Having made the above clarification, this piece is about the other thing that God has clearly revealed that He cannot do — and that thing is that God cannot change the will of a human being.

Like the typical parent, God wants all His children to be obedient, happy, and to eventually inherit eternal life and enjoy the pleasures of His kingdom forever.

Luke 12:32
Fear not, little folk; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

God also categorically declared that it is not His will that any should perish. God is hoping for the fully committed adulterer to repent. He wants the most cold-blooded kidnapper and the worst terrorist to repent. Hypocrites are also welcome to receive free forgiveness. He does not want a single human being He created in His image to be lost.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is . . . not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Nevertheless, what will eventually happen to majority of human beings absolutely proves that God is limited by man’s will in the issue of man’s eternal destiny.

What a sobering fact!

Here is the logic:

If God could force our will, He will not allow any one of us to make a decision that will take us to hell. But He cannot. And that is why some people will definitely end up in hell.

And we show our love to God by obeying His Commandments. Never forget this. God does not eat cakes and you cannot buy Him cakes as a way of proving you love Him or to make Him happy. Just obey His Commandments.

John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Remember to differentiate God’s Commandments from men’s traditions. Sorry to offend some of you but the most popular event in the world — Christmas — is probably the best example of something based on men’s tradition. God never commanded it but not many people know this. So they think they are pleasing God by celebrating it. I’m not condemning those who celebrate it.

Interestingly, the only day God commanded us to remember to keep holy is aggressively ignored by the whole world — including virtually all of the Christian world.

Matthew 15:9
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

May God have mercy on all of us and may we align our will with God’s today so as to spare Him the very difficult but compulsory job of destroying our souls in hell at last — like He intends to do to Satan and demons only.

For over 177 years now, the Seventh-day Adventist Church has been warning the world that the mark of the beast has everything to do with Sunday. Since the Bible says the whole world will receive this mark, people have been wondering how Muslims and Jews will abandon their traditional worship days to honor Sunday. Here is an important breaking news in that regard.

Muslim majority nations typically work from Sundays to Thursdays and have two-day weekends beginning on Fridays and ending on Saturdays. So Friday is a free day but Sunday is not. But the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church visited Dubai (UAE) in 2019 and signed a document for Christian/Muslim unity. I have not read that document but, apparently, it isn’t a stack of empty sheets of paper.

To prove that Sunday will eventually be honoured by the whole world, the government of the UAE just announced that, beginning from the 1st of January, 2022, the Muslim nation will no longer honour Friday as a work-free day. Rather, Friday will become a half-working day, and the weekend will now be from Saturday to Sunday — like virtually the rest of the world. Of course they will give you nice-sounding reasons for this, but the summary is that Sunday is no longer a work day. Honour has been given to Sunday, which is the day through which the mark of the beast will come alive.

This is just the beginning. Be sure to expect more.
