The Virtue, Etiquette, Rewards And Benefits Of First 10days Of Dhul Hijjah -By Musa Halimat
Plan to engage in all the virtuous acts of blessed day and beseech Allah to help, guide and accept them as act worship.
The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are the most virtuous days of the year, in which Allah (swt) has blessed his Ummah with opportunities to multiply their rewards through His infinite mercy. These days are so sacred that Allah swears an oath by them:‘By the dawn; by the ten nights’ [ Qur’an, 89:1-2].
And Allah also reminds us: ‘Remember Allah during the appointed days’. [ Qur’an, 2:203]
Virtuous acts of the first 10days of Dhul Hijjah
Hajj
Fasting
Praises and glorification of Allah
Seeking forgiveness
Eld l Adha
Sacrifice
Spreading love and kindness to family, friends and relatives
Hajj is performed during the month of Dhul Hijjah (from 8th Dhul Hijjah to 13th of Dhul Hijjah).
Hajj is Fard (obligatory) for each Muslim who can afford it. As Allah says in Quran:
“And pilgrimage to the house is duty upon mankind owed to Allah for whoever can find a way there” (Surah Al-Imran: 3:97)
Ḥajj is once, so whoever does more then that is voluntary.”Abū Dāwūd
“Whoever has the ability to perform Ḥajj and does not, then it is the same
as if he dies a Jew or a Christian.” Reported by Abū Bakr al-Ismā’īlī in Musnad ‘Umar
We should strive and make hajj our priority.
May Allah make it easy for each and everyone of us.
Praising and Glorification of Allah
We should increase our acts of worship during this sacred time. The Prophet (saw) said, ‘There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than in these (ten) days’. [Abu Dawud]
It is also the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) to recite Tahleel (‘Laillaha illalah’), Takbeer (‘Allahuakbar’), Tahmeed (‘Allhamdulillah’), and Tasabeeh(‘Subhanallah’) as many times as possible on these days.
We should moist our tongue with the following dua.
Lailaha illalahu wahadahu lasharikalahu lahulmulku walahu hamdu wahuva alakulli shayin kadir
There is no God but Allah alone Who has no partner, to whom dominion belongs, to whom praise is due, and who has power over everything.
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha illallahu Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Wa lillahil Hamd
Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest. There is no deity besides Allah and Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest and all praises are for Allah only.
Fasting is another virtuous act of first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah
Fasting is one of the best actions you can do as a form of worship. It is recommended to fast on the first nine days of Dhul Hijjah, especially on the 9th which is the blessed day of Arafah.
Fasting on the day of Arafah is a confirmed Sunnah of our beloved prophet Muhammad
A.W.) for those who are not performing Hajj. If a person is on the Hajj, there is no fast for him or her on the day of Arafah.
Celebrating Eid-ul-Adha and Sacrificing Animals (10th of Dhul Hijjah):
The month of Dhul Hijjah, apart from the month of Hajj, is also called the month of the sacrifice, due to the large number of sacrificial animals slaughtered during the month.
Eid-ul-Adha is to be celebrated on 10th of Dhil Hijjah. Eid-ul-Adha is the celebration of sacrifice and remember the spirit of Prophet Abraham (A.S.) as how he was willing to sacrifice the person he loved the most, because it was Allah’s command which he had to obey no matter what.
Umm Salamahnarrated that the Prophetsaid, “When you see the new moon of Dhul-Ḥijjah, and one of you desires to offer a sacrifice, then let him refrain from [cutting] his hair and his nails until he offers his sacrifice.” In another narration, “Then let him not touch anything from his hair or his skin.”
The ḥadīth is evidence that when the Ten Days have entered and a person wants to sacrifice then he does not remove anything from his hair, his nails or his skin until he slaughters his sacrifice. If he has more than one sacrifice it is permissible for him to remove from them after he slaughtered the first.
